Short trench with hood and double breasted?

Hi, just as above I'd like a short(hip length) trench that's nicely shaped at the waist. Preferably water resistant/proof and maybe a hood. That doesn't cost the earth. I'd like something for everyday which looks smart but easy to wear and kind of practical. I'm so sick of the big practical winter coat. It drowns me.
I like military type jackets as they are neat at the shoulders and taper in at the waist. It's the best cut for me. Anyone know of anything?

@Niftythrifter I rather like that, but I don't like the price!
You can never tell what the shape of the actual jacket is like when they tie up the belt tight. I need it to have waist shaping,I don't like tying a belt to pull it in, it just doesn't work for me. It somehow ends up bagging out or something, it's just wrong somehow.

I'm not sure why it is that double breasted works better. But anyway, I think my two perfect coats are from hobbs, a hip length wool peacoat (old, they don't make it anymore) and a Sara trench coat. This is like saskia but shorter. I would love a hip length hobbs trench replica but maybe cheaper!

Here is one but without a hood. www.next.co.uk/style/ls290252/q20367#q20367

@Niftythrifter defo on the right lines here! Prefer navy but maybe black, that one not in my size.
Hip length, navy, double breasted, with or without hood. Basically like a peacoat/trench but in shower resistant/cotton type fabric.

@GingerPigz the skirt on that is too full for me. I need it to be just quite plain and like I say, tapered for the waist. It's a timeless jacket I'm looking for so I don't know why I am finding it so tricky! I'll even give up the hood! 😁
I basically want a cross between a hobbs trench and a peacoat length.

i got his in dark red a few years ago. I love it and wear it loads in spring and summer. got it as I'm the same as you - need some shaping at the waist but don't suit a belt. it has a hood too. only thing is it's not double breasted

I'm tempted to get a black one too now
