Is anyone else worried about PFAS in cosmetics?

I have read the guardian’s article on this www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/feb/25/forever-chemicals-pfas-pollution-uk-waterways-regulations-monitoring and it seems very concerning.
These fluoride containing chemicals ( which amongst others, are waterproofing agents) are still in use in a range of industries despite being shown to be toxic and probably associated with a range of hormonal diseases and cancer. They are found in many cosmetics especially ones designed to be waterproof and have staying power eg waterproof mascara, BB creams, foundation. I am now scanning any potential buy for words such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), perfluorooctyl triethoxysilane, perfluorononyl dimethicone, perfluorodecalin, and perfluorohexane. Slightly wondering if I’m closing the door after the horse has bolted but trying to limit my exposure from now on.

Yes, chucked a bunch of old stuff out recently. Replaced with only clean beauty products. It’s not just PFAS I am concerned with but also pthalates, parabens, formaldehyde and various others. It has genuinely shocked me what is in all my cosmetics and beauty stuff.

I have been using the EWG website, which is very helpful, and only using things at or below a 3/4 rating.

Thanks for the EWG website, it’s a great resource. I think I’ll scan every new purchase through it.
