I am now retired after a fast paced corporate career. I need clothes for the next
phase, but no clue how to pull off a chic casual wardrobe.

Can you dress down a bit the clothes you already have, so it’s still familiar but getting more casual over time. So keep the smart trousers but with a cardi instead of jacket, or flat shoes instead of heels (if that’s your style) and so on. Then with time you’ll now what suits your new lifestyle. What will you be doing with your time?

Had this exact same problem. What are you spending your time doing? I've ended up with several types of clothes-scruffy gardening and slobbing about the house/yoga gear/a toned down version of work clothes for volunteering job/smart casual going out clothes (hardest to judge). Your activities may be very different!
