So I’ve box dyed my dark brown hair for ages, last one had a hint of purple which I didn’t like. The greys are increasingly hard to cover. My hair is thick and long, past my shoulders. I look like Hagrid.
so I saw a fb advert for a new salon and have been today for a constant/patch test. I said that ultimately the plan is to go lighter to try and cover up the grey better/make the regrowth less noticeable. I said I understood this might be a long process and not expected it to be done in one appointment
there was a couple of them having a discussion on how best to do it. I said I’ll leave it up to them what they think best as long as they don’t turn me ginger. One of them said I will go ginger! Because of the purple I think. So I’m grey at the roots, then purple tinge, then darker.
They’ve taken some hair to do strand tests. They said I might need to go reddish first. That I need to be committed to this. They said possibly not doing highlights at first but more of a balayage.
is this going to be a total nightmare? Am I better off just doing box dyes for the rest of my life?
