Dress ring - not real! - on a budget

I had a dress ring bought from Pilgrim many years ago (like 20) it was very unusual, the band was quite thick gold plated and it was set with 5 big chunky 'diamond' stones at different angles (so nothing like an engagement ring). Sounds gross but I loved it, and wore it on occasions and nights out. I have accidentally thrown it out 😥and can't find anything remotely similar to replace it with. I'm on a budget so don't want to spend more than £50. Can anyone suggest somewhere I might find something like it?

Have you looked at Etsy?

FadedRed · 27/02/2023 11:01

Unless you really must have a new ring, you could try looking in antique shops and in your local auction house sales where costume jewellery often sells at very reasonable prices.

Shinyandnew1 · 27/02/2023 11:03

Have you got any photos of it or could you draw it-that might give people more or an idea of where to look? Or you could get a jeweller to help?

These are chunky & quirky. Both under £50.

I have just bought a beautiful ring from here. Madeline Holloway jewellery.

I’d try QVC they have a wide selection of dress rings. I’ve got several that look really expensive, but we’re quite cheap.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/02/2023 14:55

Oh @Ceryneianhind it was very like that, but the stones were 'diamond' and the band was smooth yellow gold.

I'll have a look at other suggestions for where I might get something, thank you all.

If you look up cocktail rings you might find more choice. eBay can be good for vintage rings as long as you know what size you are.

How about aliexpress..... Knobspin.... Or search luxury moissanite diamond rings.

YY - QVC Diamonique , many are sterling silver base with either a Rhodium or Platinum plate if you want the "white" or gold plated ( much cheaper than gold)

And they do loads with big blingey stones .

Findyourneutralspace · 27/02/2023 20:48

Does it have to be gold? I’ve been getting adverts for ‘Silver By Mail’ - about your budget and some really quirky designs.

Would something like this work?

I've had lots of lovely pieces from QVC and they last well. Currently wearing lots of their diamonique pieces as my real rings are too big and need completely resetting and I can't afford it right now.

Everyone thinks they are real pieces and it's easier to take on holiday etc without the worry of loosing them or needing insurance.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/02/2023 22:14

Oh it's that one @madamsapple! But gold plated rather than silver!

Maybe I'll just buy that one, although I only ever wear gold jewellery at least the stones are exactly the same. Thank you for the link!

The ones on QVC aren't quite what I'm looking for, they almost look too "real" whereas that one I had was very obviously just a dress ring.

Just keep an eye out on ebay and vinted - the gold one will come up sooner or later!!

Not the point of the thread but that Vinted link, why does she put the rings on toilet paper and spears it onto a make up brush? I'm sure they're both clean but mental associations are unhygienic and repulsive. I would have just placed the ring(s) on a clean, hard surface and photographed it clearly from all angles and well lit. I don't even like seeing other people's hands in the photo but I appreciate this may be too far for most people aren't as finicky.

SameOldJunk · 01/03/2023 11:00

Not the same design, but similar and the right colours...
