Satin slip skirt but what top?

I have this Hush satin khaki print skirt that I have worn with a Uniqlo black merino jumper which was ok. However the jumper is a work jumper so I did feel a bit of being in my normal office wear.
What other tops should I try? I want to wear the skirt to a birthday meal next month and would ideally like sleeves, no polyester and budget friendly.
Maybe a better black jumper that I don't wear for work?
I am short and 52 so nothing too adventurous!

Love the skirt. Something like this maybe?

Ponks · 25/02/2023 19:01

I have a very similar skirt that I wear with a black wool turtleneck.

I wear my satin skirt with a black turtleneck or crew neck, but have been looking for an alternative for a while.

Karwomannghia · 25/02/2023 19:10

A very fine knit jumper goes well- almost sheer, with a tight camisole underneath.
Could also try a stretchy black Bardot top.

Karwomannghia · 25/02/2023 19:11

Love that sequin top

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/02/2023 19:16

I think sequins plus animal print would be a bit too 'busy'.

Isabelle70 · 25/02/2023 19:18

@Ponks @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I do have a black wool turtleneck so I could wear that but maybe not dressy enough.
I have found these, not sure on the one shoulder top but I might still order it.
Oh and nothing snug on the stomach!

@BrilliantUsername I keep sequins for Christmas only 🤣
Also has no sleeves and I would rather have a sleeve in the winter.

Love this skirt and regret not buying it last year! I'd wear a black thin knit polo neck jumper for smart wear, or black oversized jumper for casual.

Pandax3 · 25/02/2023 20:16

I have this skirt! I've got a thin red knit jumper I wear with mine and also a thin black sparkly jumper from whistles.

boboshmobo · 26/02/2023 17:05

I wear satin skirts with sweatshirts or graphic t shirts .. oversized black polo neck for winter and boots .. hi tops for spring and summer

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/02/2023 17:53

I like the Whistles sparkle knits, but feel like they're a bit too Christmassy.

WhereAreWeNow · 26/02/2023 18:00

I have a similar Hush skirt which I wear with a boxy, slightly cropped Uniqlo jumper. I would also wear it with a slouchy top/t-shirt tucked in and a little jacket. Or a really fitted fine merino polo neck or crew neck. Cos do good ones in loads of colours.

Isabelle70 · 01/03/2023 21:39

Well the tops from Next arrived and are going straight back.
Looks like I will continue to wear the skirt with my thin work crew neck merino jumper!

Something that’s a bit of a textural contrast?

Crazycrazylady · 01/03/2023 22:10

Have a look at Sinead Keary range . Specialises in slip skirt and top. Pricey but investment piece

Good decision. Next is not the best…

Isabelle70 · 01/03/2023 23:24

@Arrocahar23 yes I think something with a bit of texture would be good just need to find it!
@Crazycrazylady some nice pieces on that site but nothing I would feel comfortable wearing.
