Apart from being a huge fan of Isabelle Huppert, I am quite similar in colouring (especially in the summer) and am trying to locate a lip stain / balm, very subtle, that would suit me. These two photos are excellent examples of the subtle colour which I haven't been successful in finding (my best success was aveda poppy). As green as possible. Many thanks for suggestions where to look and shade names.
I'd appreciate other tips - eyeliner for green eyed reddish hair etc

Looks a lot like Nars Casablanca: www.narscosmetics.co.uk/en/casablanca-lipstick/0607845029205.html?cgid=lips

Take Me Home is similar (for whatever reason I can't get a link for that colour but it's in the drop down menu): www.narscosmetics.co.uk/en/bahama-velvet-matte-lip-pencil/0607845024590.html

Jane Iredale lipsticks are great, try Gabby or possibly Jackie: janeiredale.com/products/triple-luxe-long-lasting-naturally-moist-lipstick?variant=33863483359372

It says Gabby is 'pink nude' but on me it's much warmer, a mlbb shade.

Sorry OP, should have said these are lipsticks but they're very pigmented (esp the Nars) so can be used sparingly if you don't like the feel of a layer of lipstick. IH's lip colour looks quite matte and opaque, I don't know if a balm sort of product would give the same effect.

Jane Iredale also make a lip stain, I haven't tried the peach but that might work? I have the red which is very red although it looks more muted in the photo. janeiredale.co.uk/collections/lips/products/just-kissed-lip-and-cheek-stain

Sorry I think the JI link in a post above is to the US site, here's the UK link: janeiredale.co.uk/collections/lips/products/triple-luxe-long-lasting-naturally-moist-lipstick

Clinique Black Honey ?

newtb · 24/02/2023 16:11

From memory CMB strawberry is similar

TheGander · 24/02/2023 20:22

Bumping this hopefully. I have similar colouring to la Huppert. NARS Casablanca looks like a great shade.

JMAngel1 · 24/02/2023 20:25

I can get this look with MAC Chilli very lightly dabbed on with my finger over lib balm and then blotted.

microbius · 24/02/2023 20:37

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, and links! I think she sometimes wears a more clearly coral/orange lipstick - and this is probably the shade in the first pic (she also often wears red)
But the second pic and this is how she often looks in many films, is this kind of matt stain rather than lipstick type coverage or balm and it looks very neutral but I am not sure that it is mauve or rose... Maybe it is really more chilli or poppy lipstick and it is all about the technique of application. Maybe some make up artists can let us in on the secret

I've seen clinique's black honey recommended here a lot - does it have a balm like shine?

I loved MAC chilli colour. Burned orange would suit me very well, - anyone knows a more "green" brand with a similar colour? Just checked MAC and NARS and they are not great...

She always looks so amazing. Love her.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 24/02/2023 20:52

You'd probably achieve this look by using lots of lip liner and a little balm.

microbius · 24/02/2023 21:49

@MurderAtTheBeautyPageant there is a hint that she does that in one of her interviews. And vogue mentions a sisley pencil. Have you done this - does it dry your lips, or is it a wearable thing?

Great to see she’s nearly 70 and hasn’t had a ton of “work” done. She must have had something done but whatever it is it’s subtle.

microbius · 28/02/2023 12:07

@crispinglovershighkick Crisping, I want to thank you for taking time to post - I didn't know Jane Iredale at all, never heard of this brand, and I've now tried some stuff and I am very pleased. I also intend on trying her mascara - my eyes get irritated so easily, I have hopes for JI now.

For @TheGander and others interested, I can report that Jane Iredale lip and cheek stain in forever peach achieves this reddish-orangish matt look that I was after. I realised I like the slight neuroticism in IH face and makeup, - very little eye makeup and - I think going full pale skin. So I don't intend to use the lip stain as blush as it doesn't quite work for me. It looks a bit drawn on. But maybe this will change with spring and summer light.

Thanks so much for posting again @microbius . I like your description of IH’s style as slightly neurotic- she’s certainly a very cerebral actress and often seems to play rather perverse characters. I’ll definitely look into Jane Iredale lipstick 💯

crispinglovershighkick · 03/03/2023 15:49

You're welcome! The lipstick is the best I've used - no unpleasant scent or flavour, no bleeding. Also excellent customer service.
Now I'm tempted to try the forever peach!
