Anyone else hate midi dresses?

I honestly can't wear a midi dress. I'm short and they make me look so frumpy. My legs are also my best asset so if I hide most of them I have nothing to offer!

My sister is getting married in June and once you take out the midi dresses there is barely any choice out there, I can't find anything at all.

Is anyone else the same and has recommendations of shops with a good selection of shorter dresses suitable for a wedding?

Thank you so much in advance

Love them. They really suit me.

No. They are right for me. I loathe minis or just above knee. I have one very swollen (rheumatic/Arthritic knee and my legs are not slim.

I actually think the problem with that dress is that the waist isn't hitting you in the right place. You have a lovely figure, and I'm guessing long legs in proportion to your height, so if you're on the shorter side, it's not always just the skirt length that's the issue. Try it on again and lift it about two inches above your shoulders and I suspect you'll like the fit a lot better. A good tailor can do that alteration, but it's only worth it for something you really love! I'm just under 5'4" and end up getting a lot of things altered.

Yes that's exactly it! All the dresses hit in the wrong place! So good to know that in future lifting it at the shoulders can solve my problem, I will definitely be trying that.

Thank you for resolving a life long issue from just looking at one picture!!

I'm back on this thread as I sent back all the ones I'd ordered. I don't know, they just all make me look "thick" in the top area. Urgh, not sure I'll ever find anything. I checked all the recommendations out though thank you everyone!

Actually I wonder if the problem is that I don't have a waist? (See pic of this other dress I'd ordered). I look like a tree trunk, straight all the way down, not helped by being flat chested. I'm basically the opposite of hourglass.

😩I think that's why none of these are working for me. What sort of dresses should I be going for?

Fit and flare dresses - round neck that come in at the waist and flare out - I’ll find you one!

Surely for a fairly casual summer wedding you just want a pretty day dress? Short if you have nice legs. My DD went to several weddings last summer and she had a couple of nice short dresses from Reiss which looked good on the day with heels and still look great afterwards with trainers.

@floisme it literally is too short to trawl through five pages of people saying the same thing, yes.
