Lipstick doesn’t suit me

I’m 35 and have never been able to find the right lipstick shade, so I stick to tinted lip gloss.

i have a pale complexion that gets a light tan in the summer, and blush easily. I have a bit of pigmentation from teen acne.

I find that most lipsticks make me look older or like a man in drag! (That’s what I think anyway) But surely there must be a good lipstick out there for me? When I look at photos sometimes I think my lips could do with a little more colour to define them.

should I go to a beauty counter to have them find the right colour for me? And if so, which brand?

thanks 😊

Same issue here. The only thing that looks good is the Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk PENCIL coloured over my lips.

Glossier Generation G in the colour Like just makes my lips look like other people's bare normal lips.

No 7 matched me as a warm based skin.

Im a summer in terms of colours do need cool colours. Yet they matched me as warm. It doesn’t work every time. I’ve got very live skin ( warm) but it has lots of pink in it.

l avoid no 7 now.

I find no. 7 colours too limited. I am a bit yellowy and so the foundation that matches me best is pale enough but sort of drains the colour from my face. Having said that, the recommended lip colours for that wrong shade are pretty good 😄

Clarins have a really sheer type (called 'Joli Rouge Brilliant') that I find really flattering. There's not much colour to them but they seem to plump & make your lips look lovely. The one I wear is like a brick red colour but on the lips it just a nice natural pinkish shade.

Another thing to try is to just pat them on rather than the traditional way. Just bounce it over your lips and blur the edges. Kiss off on the back of your hand a bit. Obviously works well with more natural shades. I do this with Estée Lauder Intense Nude. It ends up looking flattering and natural.

Thank you for all these good tips!

I am beginning to wonder if lipstick is just not for me. My face is cool/pale/goes red and I find even pillow talk doesn’t suit me.

Quite tempted to try glossier ultra lip, anyone else tried it?

i have also ordered a revolution lip/cheek tint, I might see if this works with gloss over the top.

I find lipsticks just rub off. So i normally just wear a lip stain (benefit benetint) and vaseline or gloss on the top.

OP try Lipstick Queen Frog Prince or Morning Sunshine. Both are pricey but both are shade changers that adapt to your individual skin tone.

I look horrendous in lipstick but these two from Lipstick Queen work for me; literally a game changer.

I think you just think that lipstick doesn't suit you.

Do you actually want to wear lipstick?

A bold colour?

Then just wear it.

Honestly. I often wear really bold colours that don't necessarily suit me, but I want to wear them so I do!
