I just buy the same thing over and over!

I guess it means I know what I like and maybe I have a consistent style but does anyone else do this? For example I like delicate gold necklaces and have at least ten but if I go into Oliver Bonas or Accessorise, I get immediately drawn to delicate gold necklaces, maybe slightly updated for the new season but effectively the same item I already own. What’s the secret of keeping a consistent style whilst not just buying what is effectively the same thing over and over?

Enjoy the things you have and don't buy for the sake of it.

It's liberating to only buy stuff you need not want.

I struggle with this too. I have 3 different coloured long belted wraps coats, various styles of leather leggings/trousers and my jumpers/tops always have to be draped in some way or asymmetrical.
I love a wrap midi skirt and heeled pointed toe sock boots for work.
Doesn't help that I detest print so I can look the same over and over - just the colours might change.

It does worry me that people might think - oh here she comes again in her leather leggings- but if I do try to dress differently, I just don't feel good.
Then I heard of Kibbe and it all made sense when I was realised I'm a soft dramatic. So now I just think to hell with it and stick with buying what I know I like.
I love a dainty gold chain too!

If you have something similar that you loved once learn to relove it

I agree with this. If you have 10 necklaces why do you need to buy another?

dudsville · 23/02/2023 07:37

I think the solution to already have 10 good chains is to not go browsing. When you do go shopping look at your current correcting of chains before you go, take a pic, then when you're out and fine towie considering a new one look/think back to your collection and consider whether this new one fills a gap or is just habit shopping.

I started the no buy/low buy thread so I’m definitely working on not buying things I don’t need and looking at my shopping habits carefully. I’m doing well and starting to understand myself a bit more. Just seems so ridiculous to hone right in on things I already own! It’s like some kind of comfort blanket.

This is literally my mom. She sometimes walks in saying "I got a new lipstick, its so different I love it". Only for us to look at her makeup bag and realise she has bought the exact same colour as all her other lipsticks. She doesn't even realise she is doing it.
Now, instead of trying to "be different", she just embraces what she likes. She can't avoid it really ha.
