Christening dress for a 3 year old

My daughter is finally getting baptised after years of putting it off due to Covid etc. her dad is Catholic but she's getting baptised in my church which is C of E. She's having a handmade dress by a local dressmaker.

I would like her to have a dress that is white lace on the body with a lilac tulle skirt. This will match her cake which is going to be lilac. Her dad isn't keen - he thinks the dress should be all white. But to my mind, he's stuck in 2002 for style ideas. We both have older children who were born around then, you see.

Should I just get all white?

I personally like the idea of a white dress because it fits with tradition, just as I like white wedding dresses but appreciate that everyone has different tastes.

Could you go with a mostly white dress with some lilac embroidery, flowers or ribbon around the waist? So it’s a compromise?

Or maybe little lilac bolero and hair clip or something for afterwards during the cake photos? I'll be honest, for the ceremony part I'd tend to agree with your husband - traditional always looks best.

Ok, thank you for your input. I'll go for all white.
