Any new hairstyles around?

I’ve had my hair in a short bob/long bob with highlights forever. It’s dated I know. I’m sure I came out with a version of the Rachel the last time I went to the hairdresser.

I do like the short hair with quiff which I have seen some women wear but I haven’t got the jawline for that.

It must be time for a new hairstyle fashion. Any ideas?

Wolf cut?

Seventies fringe?

Veryniceindeed · 14/02/2023 21:52

I just googled wolf cut! It’s like a shaggy mullet with a fringe? I love it.

Ooo following!

Liking the 70's fringe plan

I've changed my bob to a middle part with curtain fringe at cheek bone length. Blow dry forward with a big round brush and it frames the face really nicely. I've had lots of compliments (which I never usually get!).

We need a video 🙏

Heathcote294 · 15/02/2023 19:49

My fringe is a bit longer than this and my hair is chin length but this is the technique. Just blow dry the whole middle section with a round brush, pulling it all in front of your face.

HerbalTeaAndCake sorry, forgot to tag you in previous message.

I've got a Wolf cut (had it for years when it was called a mullet). I change every now and then but always go back to it as, it's easy to style, straight or leave it wavy. Also still leaves the option to put it up. As I'm nearly 60 I often think, am I too old for this. Then I think F* it!

Heathcote294 · 15/02/2023 19:57

Mines something like this, just wish I had the face to go with it!

Do you need thick hair for that? It's lovely and I'm trying to move away from a blunt bob, this might add just a bit more interest.

No, my hair is fine and if anything it helps give it some ooomph. The key is the big round brush and drying it forward with some mousse. Try it with your hair as it currently is, you'll get an idea of how it lies even without the fringe.

MaverickGooseGoose · 15/02/2023 20:15

Dts had their hair done today - one had a butterfly cut, the other a wolf cut. Curtain bangs as they're calling them are on trend now too.

Veryniceindeed · 16/02/2023 17:13

I like all the suggestions. Just googled the butterfly cut and that’s lovely and the curtain bangs would be easy to have on my hair.

I also like the wavy hairstyle with fringe style of the hairdresser in the video!

I went for a complete change and love it ! Gone from brown to blonde to his the greys and had the wolf cut - it's knocked years off me !

Went from no fringe to a full fringe .

AnyaMarx · 20/02/2023 23:29

Went from the brown No fringe to the blonde with fringe and it's honestly knocked a good few years off !

sarahh96 · 21/02/2023 18:36

@AnyaMarx wow! That's a lovely colour. From what I can see, it really suits your skin tone. Can't really see the hairstyle but your hair does look really healthy as well. Well done you! It gives you such a boost doesn't it? I expect you'll get loads of compliments

Veryniceindeed · 21/02/2023 18:38

That’s really lovely @AnyaMarx. I love the fringe. My hair is like your first picture!

@AnyaMarx sorry, silly me. I didn't click on the pictures to enlarge. Fab haircut and colour. I may hoof it down to the hairdressers for that colour myself now, I've got hair envy 🤣

Is it high maintenance @Heathcote294? I wanted this but have a widows peak and lazy disposition, hairdresser talked me out of it

I do have to blow dry it, I don't think it would work if you let it dry naturally. I blow dry it with a ceramic round brush on day 1, it just needs a bit of straightening on day 2 after I've slept on it and the same on day 3 plus some dry shampoo. I suppose it depends on your hair type but it's no higher maintenance than any other style I've had.

dudsville · 21/02/2023 21:23

I like Mylie Cryus's hair at the moment. Quite retro. Having read this thread I'm off to Google the wolf cut!

AnyaMarx · 21/02/2023 22:32

Thank you ladies I'm really pleased with the new look - feel energised! It's definitely knocked a few years off me - always welcome at 51 !
