I’ve forgotten how to dress.

How do I work out what looks good?

I always used to dress quite nicely, but lately I’m stuck in an old, ill-fitting clothing rut and I’ve forgotten how to style myself.

I ordered one of those boxes where you get outfits sent to you, but I wanted casual and got work wear so that’s no good.

Please help me remember how to style myself! I’ve lost all confidence in matching styles and colours, and putting outfits together.

Do you regularly browse shop websites? That’s the easiest way to see how new clothes are being styled.

I for instance rarely buy anything from & Other Stories or Zara - but I spend an inordinate amount of time on their sites because I love their styling. Free People, Bimba y Lola, MaxMara - doesn’t matter, you just need to put in a bit of regular time. That way you get your eye in to current colours, proportions … Not everyone has the patience for endless insta influencers!

Go out and look at people and see what clothes and outfits you like the look of.

Watch some of those mesmerisng Youtube videos that get put up of stylish people walking on London streets (it always seems to be Bond Street).

I like Pinterest. When I buy a new item, say a white shirt, I type 'white shirt outfit' into the search engine then I can save the outfits I like the look of and can recreate.

When I need help deciding what to wear I just review my saved outfits. 😄
