I want to buy this dress for dd's wedding but haven't got a clue what colour jacket, shoes etc would go with it. Don't think pastels would be any good but another jewel colour would look too much! Any ideas greatly appreciated thank you!

Oh I love that dress!

CurlyGirlMumma · 14/02/2023 14:01

Sorry no help on he styling

Marblessolveeverything · 14/02/2023 14:06

I am no expert but I think this dress would really pop beside a pale lilac colour - I think there is a shade in the beading/stitching? beautiful dress.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 14/02/2023 14:11

Not a jacket. I think it'll ruin the look.

Dusky pink shoes, bag and shawl.

MadeOfSteel · 14/02/2023 14:12

Oh that's a lovely dress!

I'm not very adventurous, so I'd go for a white jacket to really allow the blue to shine. And for headgear, I'd pick a shade from the flowers on the dress and base it on that.

asparalite · 14/02/2023 14:15

Maybe something like this jacket, silver shoes maybe too

Moggyd · 14/02/2023 17:00

Thanks everyone for these suggestions. Love that jacket. I did think about a pashmina type of thing too but not sure what colour would work?

Eyerollcentral · 14/02/2023 17:07

Defo no jacket, would take away from the dress, unless you could get maybe a little bolero jacket in the same blue which would sit just on the waist. I would go for a pashmina (90s are back after all!), colour wise the bright pink that’s in the dress. Shoes again probably the pink as I think you’d find it hard to match the blue. Accessorise may have a matching multicoloured clutch. As for your headgear if you can stretch to it see if you can find someone to make you one to match the dress. I’ve seen some amazing ones for weddings made to match and they’ve been around the 150 mark. Really gorgeous dress and a lovely departure from typical (drab) mother of the bride looks. Congrats!!

Navy blue accessories

Northby · 14/02/2023 17:18

Steer clear of blue - the blue of the dress is stunning and any extra blue shades will
detract from it. I’d pull out the pinks personally

something like this colour

or this colour if you’re feeling adventurous

i would be really interested to see what this looks like with the contrast of the tulle in the dress and the structured jacket!

pashmina would be fine as long as you style it properly and don’t end up flapping it around 😂

then it’s a case of matching either the colour of the jacket or the dress for your shoes and bag. Your shoes and bag and any fascinator should all match in colour to bring the outfit together so it’s not too bitty.

Salacia · 14/02/2023 17:24

Lovely dress. I’d avoid a jacket if you can (certainly for photos etc - maybe a cropped cardigan for leaving in). I’d go with either gold or hot pink platform sandles. Potentially some beaded flats for dancing in depending on the venue/if you have a room to pop back too. Simple pink or gold leather wristlet (like this). I’m not sure if bother with a hat, if you want something for your head I’d go for more of a jewelled headband or ribbon (not quite this but in the ballpark).

Moggyd · 14/02/2023 18:15

Thank you @Northby for these links. I do actually like the idea of all other accessories in a mid pink colour.

Thank you @Salacia for these ideas too. The wedding is in early April so I feel I need something to put on. I don't like the idea of anything taking away from the dress and also not being in the right fabric.

I love that Hobbs jacket , the jewel pink would be great. I'd do that and maybe pewter shoes and bag .
Or alternatively you could go the green route

asparalite · 14/02/2023 21:42

Alternatively, Monsoon has some equally nice long sleeved dresses similar to the dress you like, which would avoid the jacket situation completely.

Moggyd · 04/03/2023 17:41

Can anyone help or give other ideas? I gave now bought the dress I linked to at the beginning of the thread. Now I just can't find a cropped jacket in the right colour to go with it. I want to wear silver/grey jacket and shoes. I'm beginning to panic now. Has anyone got any ideas? At this rate I'm thinking I should send the dress back and go and buy a complete outfit from somewhere. Is it worth me going to an actual bridal shop? Many thanks.

No, not a pashmina. But I’d also not wear a jacket! It’s a lovely dress and the white shoes the model is wearing are also lovely.
Id go for white shoes and bag

Thank you @Soontobe60. I don't really want to wear a jacket but the wedding is early April so I can't guarantee the weather. I like the white shoes though so thank you for the ideas.

I’d go for a longline jacket, how about this www.monsoon.co.uk/tallulah-wool-rich-long-tuxedo-coat-blue-45185032.html

CherrySocks · 04/03/2023 21:07

<< I'm distracted by the way the earrings are hanging from the model's ears (not from her lobes?) >>

Eyerollcentral · 04/03/2023 23:05

Send the dress back you will never get a match for it. Go to house of fraser or equivalent and get a personal shopper.
