What colour bridesmaid dresses will go with my flowers?

I’m getting married this autumn and for my wedding flowers I’ve chosen orange roses, as they’re my favourite flower, and for the wedding decor we are keeping it simple and rustic with oranges and greens. Originally I was looking at sort of burnt orange/rust coloured bridesmaid dresses, to go with our colour scheme/theme, but I was wondering if a contrasting colour might look better?

Would green bridesmaid dresses look nice with orange roses? Or are there any other colours that might look nice? I really struggle with putting colours together so any help would be appreciated!

dark navy would be a nice neutral backdrop.
If you found the perfect peacock blue/teal it could also look nice.

Navy would be lovely or grey or silver.

Id definitely have a contrasting colour so the roses will stand out

Sage green would be pretty and a good foil for the orange roses - there seem to be quite a few photos of bouquets of orange roses with sage and rosemary foliage. Sage green should be quite an easy colour for sourcing bridesmaids dresses too.

I’d also suggest something in the darker blue or green hues… burnt orange is a tricky colour to pull off, my heart would sink if I had to wear it as a BM!

AlwaysLatte · 11/02/2023 04:00

I also think sage green

Yes, I'd go for dark blue/ grey/ silver.

Orange is quite a strong colour so you want something fairly inoffensive/ neutral as the other colour.

I wouldn't go green personally but that's just a preference.

AbsolutePixels · 11/02/2023 04:21

Blue is opposite orange on the colour wheel, so they're supposed to go really well together.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 11/02/2023 04:30

Dark green would look beautiful.

Nsky62 · 11/02/2023 04:30

A pale yellow

daretodenim · 11/02/2023 04:33

Another vote for navy, or dark green.

DarkNecessities · 11/02/2023 04:35

Navy doesn’t scream autumn at me and is dull imo and burnt orange is a hard colour to wear for many.
Softer blues, sage etc.

daretodenim · 11/02/2023 04:43

Yeah I was thinking again and a dark teal would be a strong backdrop to the orange but not overpower it. Attached some examples of the colour with flowers on cake being the best example I think.

I.like green too but I think sage is too spring like, I'd go a nice dark rich green

Warriorsconeouttoplayay · 11/02/2023 05:42

A deep blue, teal or green will look gorgeous! Orange is my favourite colour too 😀

Stuffynosetime · 11/02/2023 06:13

I also think a Deep blue or teal.

I also think that as much as orange roses are lovely. Many people do not wish to dress in orange. I certainly don’t. So I’d ask my bridesmaids what they like, and not randoms on line.

BHRK · 11/02/2023 07:38

Navy or pale grey. Definitely not orange

theveg · 11/02/2023 07:40

Agree with blues and greens. Can't understand people suggesting grey or silver- I can't envisage how that would work at all?

suzyscat · 11/02/2023 07:42

I vote green too. Sage or dark

Clarabellawilliamson · 11/02/2023 07:52

Muted beige- gold would look nice with the orange ranunculus you shared on the cake. Maybe an easier colour to wear as a dress too?

I am biased though, because that was the colours I had....

For an autumn wedding a light coffee-colored dress would be a good background for orange roses. Also a little more unique than the traditional dark green or silver grey.

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/02/2023 08:30

What skin tone and hair colour do your bridesmaids have?

plumduck · 11/02/2023 11:46

Please don't dress your bridesmaids in burnt orange it's an awful colour on a lot of people
