Ideas for jewellery £150 budget

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 09/02/2023 21:06

I want to buy myself a piece of special jewellery to symbolise an achievement

unfortunately the achievement wasn’t winning the lottery so budget is £150 max 😁

I don’t really wear jewellery unless I’m going out out but I would love to wear it more.

I like and suit both gold and silver

I’m 34 and have recently lost a v large amount of weight so jewelry was normally cheap and whatever fitted (so long necklaces etc) so I’m not sure what I really want to wear now!

I love hoop earrings (but have a beautiful georg Jensen silver pair and a gold pair)

Love bangles more than bracelets (would love some plain silver bangles actually)

Necklaces, I think I’d love a special necklace but not actually sure what suits, I’ve only ever worn long drappy necklaces as I had such a large neck 😁

Rings, I have short stubby fat hands so not sure rings suit me 🙃

These? Depends what style you like.

Etsy has loads of silver bangles - you could get quite a few.

or one of these necklaces: www.alexmonroe.com/jewellery/necklaces/price=-175?p=1#product-item-info_23092

I'm wearing the baby bee necklace right now, only thing I'd say is the chain is quite short so I wear it on the last ring (I can't wear chillers they irritate me) so I'd have bought a slightly longer chain if able
(Mine was a gift and I love it) x

Had you thought about having something made? I was gifted £100 for my 40th and decided to get a ring made. I found some cheap old rings with stones in and went to visit an independent jeweller. I loved the whole process. I took her some things I loved and we discussed finishes. She used the stones and created something amazing. It cost more than the amount gifted but not that much.

the whole experience was a joy and I would
recommend it

I also have the Alex monroe baby bee necklace and it’s very cute

Agree, I find the chains on A M normal necklaces a bit short - I just bought an extender from Amazon and wear it with that.

I think you answered your own question! Silver bangles- you’d be able to wear them forever.

TodayInahurry · 10/02/2023 07:11

You could try antique shops they usually have a lot of jewellery, not all of it old

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 10/02/2023 08:34

Oh wow. Thank you! Gorgeous ideas!

I don’t think it’s quite what I’m going for right now but man I want an Alex Monroe Dinosaur necklace!!

I thought of getting something made but figured it would be way to expensive but that sounds like it maybe wouldn’t be!

I don’t mind going slightly over budget but this is an interim gift (hitting a special weight loss goal then I’ll get a really special gift at my goal weight basically) so don’t want to go crazy but I do want special.

I do love the idea of some silver bangles so if anyone can point me in the direction of some thinner, slightly more delicate bangles then I’d love that!

this has given me some food for thought!

I would definitely try to see in the flesh. I've been a bit disappointed recently by the gap between jewellery photos and the reality.

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 10/02/2023 12:53

Hi OP, for £150 you could easily afford to go to a workshop and learn to make your own silver bangle! If you Google ‘silver bangle workshop’ you can find one in your area. It’s surprisingly easy to do. You can also make it exactly the right size to fit you. If you love it, you can buy tools yourself and you have a new hobby. The silver for a basic bangle only costs about £15-20. Here’s one I made for myself.

I know some people dismiss Pandora but I have some lovely bangles from there that were about &70 each. You can wear them without the charms and they are nice and simple.
dd has a really lovely tennis bracelet as well. Which was about £90 from Pandora.
