Manchester night out. What to wear?

Am off out in Manchester in a couple of weeks time - first time out in ages and I’m wondering what people tend to wear! Going to the Ivy Asia and then on for cocktails - last time I went out was in London where anything goes but I have a feeling Manchester is a bit more glammed up. Or is that just Liverpool?

Am petite, summer colouring (dark hair, grey eyes), do have a range of outfits I could choose from so not necessarily looking to buy new, but would appreciate insight into the general ‘dress code’ (I know, wear what you feel comfortable in etc but I do want to get the right vibe and not totally misjudge it!). Any ideas/ suggestions appreciated!

Anyone? I usually stick to coated skinnies and a top but not sure if that’s a bit boring/not right for Manchester. Would a dress be more suitable?

People do get dressed to go to the Ivy in Manchester definitely.

coated skinnies, top, blazer and heeled sandals could work.

If you don’t want proper heels a chunky boot and a dress is another option.

Id say wear what you feel comfortable in, but you can definitely glam up if you’re that way inclined!

Take a look at the tagged pictures on instagram :)

I'm off to The Ivy soon and in thinking of a nice jumpsuit with heels.

Manchester's fairly casual on the whole although you do also have the more glam contingent...anything goes really! Just wear what you're comfortable in.

I’m actually in Manchester right now, though I am not really going out out. I would say it’s more glam than London generally, but you won’t feel out of place if you’re not glammed up either, if that makes sense? It also depends where you’re going out - Northern Quarter is more laid back, but I haven’t really been there for a big night out, just for lunch/dinner/drinks.

Have fun whatever you choose to wear!

Brilliant, thank you! Sounds like my usual outfit will be fine and not out of place. Good idea to look on instagram too - I’ll do that now 🙂
