I have a work trip essentially touring the North of England this week, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to go to a high end salon which would be too expensive to do here in London.

Does anyone have any recommendations? This would be for a haircut, maybe a bit of a hair style refresh (would like a hairdresser to recommend a style, offer guidance on how to style my new haircut etc.). Somewhere reputable, relaxing and where I won’t be judged for doing bugger all with my hair most of the time. 😅 Budget is £100ish. Maybe more for somewhere magnificent.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks, but that looks a bit far out? I’m ideally looking for somewhere in the city centre :)

I should say I’ve been to Trevor Sorbie in Manchester and while it was okay, it wasn’t ‘wow’ enough for the price (£90 last year). Unless I just had the wrong stylist because the reviews are glowing!

Zest Liverpool, take a look at their Instagram page

Melissa Timperly in Manchester. It’s amazing, the service is really personalised. They do precision cutting and you get a head massage and nice coffee!

Can personally recommend Victoria or Sarah

The only thing is they might be booked up depending on how soon you are coming.

Voodou, Liverpool. Have a look at FB/Instagram. I love them 😍

I'm not sure your budget is enough for 'high end' city centre. My hair cut, colour and blow dry is £90 in a nice but not high end salon in Manchester.

I don't think your 100 will stretch to what you want in Liverpool City centre ...not in my experience.....if you want high end

Echoing the above posters - you’ll be fine here if you’re just after a cut, but colouring is a lot more!

Unless you’re very lucky you won’t get an appointment at the best salons with a week’s notice. They’re fully booked at least 6 weeks in advance.

Star salon in Liverpool are good.

I've had a red balayage and a kerasilk treatment.
They are lovely.

This is a fair point 😭

Thanks for this, sounds great. I do think it’s all about the specific stylist you get. I will look to see if they have any availability :)

Another recommendation for Melissa Timperley. I have been a client since it first opened (5? 6? years ago) and it has gone from strength to strength. I can personally recommend Melissa but I am not sure that she takes on new clients now. The team has, however, greatly expanded, the service is personalised and I have never seen anyone leaving with an unflattering haircut. The salon is very stylish and the vibe is friendly and welcoming.
