How do you tie a tie strap dress?

Some of my summer dresses are tie strap.

I generally just tie them at the top of my shoulders but I feel it looks fussy and feel uncomfortable in the dress.

Does anyone have a way of tying straps without cutting them off and sewing them?

I tie them at the bottom of the back bit if that makes sense so no bows on my shoulder but sort of hanging down the back where the strap attaches to the body but I normally just cut and sew

Thank you @curlycat. I've done that on one, a more beachwear style, but I think I'll have to cut and sew the smarter one.
