I've been using tretinoin for about 6 weeks now and just moved up to 0.05%
It's causing my makeup to peel off in patches after a couple of hours - I look like a zombie!
I've been using hyaluronic acid followed by moisturiser at night then in the morning Cerave moisturiser with SPF50. I've tried with and without a primer and it makes no difference. I think I need something richer in my night routine - any recommendations please?

I need to do the same and someone recommended squaline oil. I’m going to give it a go!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/02/2023 21:40

Maybe not a helpful suggestion, but I’d trim back the tret usage first. My dose went up recently and I had to switch to every second night because my face was falling off.

Thank you, yes I've cut back to every other night but might drop down even further.

I'm having the same issue!!

I tried a free sample of Clinique moisture surge today that I had lying around. The different was amazing. I don't think it has an spf though so prob no good for daytime use 😔

Dr Jart Ceramidin or LRP Lipikar Baume.

I spelled those from memory but I’m sure they’ll come up with an approximate Google.

Nivea Creme the blue pot. Vaseline also works for many.

I second the dr Jart ceramedin. It's the only thing that sorts out the dryness without stinging.

I have been a tret user since 2016, on and off. The only moisturiser that stops my skin from peeling is Dr Sam's flawless moisturiser. Then any SPF on top that doesn't break you out for daytime. For nighttime, if my skin is dry I do moisturiser first then tret for a few weeks, then tret first followed by moisturiser. Hope this helps!

Eucerin 5% Urea Facial cream is my go to. Not glamorous perhaps but the best I've tried for dry or flaking skin but non greasy and absorbs well.

Organic, cold pressed, argan oil or jojoba oil

Cut down the nights you use Tret. I have found Ren Recovery balm fantastic. I also slug every now and then with thin layer of Vaseline over moisturizer. I find less is more and keep my skincare basic when using Tret.

No advice on the moisturiser but re. your comment about Clinique moisture surge, it's really important to use a separate SPF. The level in other products "with SPF" isn't enough, particularly when using Tret.

I think it’s bad at the moment as it’s been so cold. I have to step things up when it’s very cold. I’ll often put one moisturiser on first, then my Dermatica, then another on top in the evening. The two I use most often are LRP Cicaplast and Bioderma anti acne. I use the Cicaplast in the day too before SPF.
