Does anyone else find boots hurt on the shin?

I must have tried on about fifteen different pairs of black chunky ankle boots this winter and I haven’t found a single pair that are comfortable. I find they really hurt around the front of my shin when I’m walking or getting them on or off.

I'm not talking knee high boots but ankle boots which go over the ankle and some go up slightly higher. I’ve tried all different styles. Some slip on, some with laces and some with side zips. All kill my legs!

Anyway I’m wondering it’s a weird quirk of my legs as every other person is wearing the same boots I’ve tried!

Not the same but mine often hurt on the top of my right foot, just near the bit where the foot connects to the foot.

Anyway, with your shin issue is it to do with the suppleness of the material? Do they fit properly on the foot? You can get wider calf size boots. Duo of Bath for example. In their previous incarnation (forget the name) they used to get you to measure your calf as part of the sizing on your order. Would that help?

Is it both shins? With me it's just the right. I even wondered if the foot was just weak and finding lifting the weight of the shoe/boot after summer sandals etc! Maybe your shins need to learn how to wear them? But then that sounds a bit like torture! Maybe we've both got funny feet/shins? Grin

Oh I get this with a good 80% of ankle boots-you're not alone!

I get these heel protectors and stick them in the front of the ankle part where it normally rubs my ankle.

The only ankle boots i can comfortably wear are lace ups. I've never done across a soft enough pair of chelseas.

Same here. Sometimes they get more comfortable over time if they're leather. But the only pair that has been fine from the off is a slip-on leather Clarks pair which was loose suede from the ankle up.

Hotter brand ankle boots don't rub me. But to be fair, they ain't the most stylish out there. But then I'm an old fart so I don't care.

I do but my fitflop ones are good.

I was out in a pair of suede ankle boots last week thinking how stiff & uncomfortable they were!
Put them on this week & realised they still had the cardboard shapers in the front! ConfusedBlush
