Are there any real rules on how to wear flared jeans

When I grew up flared jeans were just about going our of fashion ( late 70's) so I've always thought of them as cheesy but sometimes I see them and think they look fab. So who sells affordable ( I mean under say £60 ) , not-too-wildly flared , comfortable jeans and what are the basic rules about tops etc to go with them?

They have to be the right length. Wear them ideally with a heel, so they drape.

Short flared trousers that don't drape make a person look like a clown. Longer length and get them taken up. Never, ever short unless you want to look like a cross between a Dickensian scamp and a sailor who got caught in a hot wash.

River island have lovely flares at the moment; agree with previous poster re chunky heels (also wedges in summer)

I bought the new look quin black denim ones and I wear with a cropped mock neck jumper that's lose but structured and white Adidas superstars and dark green faux fur coat and I got compliments in the office! Struggling to find the right bag though

I was watching a YouTube vid that mentioned this last night (Lydia Tomlinson). She said go boxy, eg with a jacket, to add some width at the top to balance things out. I can't find the exact video but she does a lot of that sort of advice.

I also tuck T-shirts in, or blouses in when the weather is warmer
