Has anyone ever done balayage on their own hair?

I saw a balayage kit advertised and I wondered if anyone had ever tried it. I don’t know how it works but fancy giving it a go!

I did about 10 years ago, can't remember if it was a proper kit or just bleach, and pretty much just bleached the ends of my dark brown hair with a half arsed attempt at blending 😂 it was actually fine until I decided to do it a 3rd time in quite a short space of time as I wanted it lighter and ruined my ends. This photo is when it was first done so all I would say is research the blending techniques that I clearly didn't 😂 it wasn't bad but turned out to be more dip dye than balayage!

I did mine a couple of years ago and really liked it, although I was going for a rose gold and it lightened quicker than I was expecting (keep checking the colour!)

I used the esalon kit and it was really straightforward, but it did make it dry and I had to be strict about regular masks and treatments - I have another kit somewhere and I'm planning to do it again since most of this will have grown out by now 😊

Wow, both lovely. It’s possible then.

I followed a YouTube video once where you put bleach on a brush and lightly put it through your hair. It turned out ok but a bit haphazard!
