Quick q - do they charge much for returns? Not ordered from there for a few years.

I think so although am not sure how much. Basically they're the same as (owned by) Sports Direct now.

Chenford · 01/02/2023 20:23

They charge since Sports Direct took over (and ruined it)

I refuse to shop there now, but think you pay to send back via carrier of your choice, eg Royal Mail, paying the going rate.

whatausername · 01/02/2023 20:31

Hmm, their delivery fees are high and even their offers aren't good so I suspect their return fees are higher than average. Not worth it for a pair of boots. Thanks PPs!

When I last bought they only offered store credit for returns. Might've been a sale thing

usernamenumber166373838 · 01/02/2023 20:33

Oh no...I didn't know about the sports direct thing and I've just placed an order with House of Fraser 😩😩

usernamenumber166373838 · 01/02/2023 20:34

It is t a sad thing, it's how sports direct works...it's rubbish

Nope. They only now refund if faulty. Otherwise it's store credit.

Used to be a (relatively) premium retailer. Now it's like a market stall. Pity.

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 01/02/2023 20:43

I was a bit annoyed at paying £5 for an in store collection for an £80 order today, if im honest! I hope I don't need to return it.

Looking at their returns policy, buying in store = credit note whilst buying online = money back. So it seems anyway

Don't think I'll be buying anything that has to fit from HoF any time soon!

I used to love house of fraser but since he took it over I've not brought a thing from there.

usernamenumber166373838 · 07/02/2023 12:04

Just an update as I needed to return my order after all: it was hassle free and I got a full refund, not store credit.

Bananaman123 · 07/02/2023 19:09

Yeah I bought boots, paid fiver delivery and had to return costing me another fiver. Ten quid down, no boots to show for it.

Wow, that would be against the law if it was bought online, they have to allow you to inspect the goods, and have to refund if you cancel the order and return within 14 days. They have to refund the original price paid plus any standard postage, but the buyer has to cover return postage.

missmoon · 07/02/2023 22:08

So many shops try it on with dodgy returns policies. This is just for buying online though (distance trading), if bought in person there is no right to return unless it’s faulty.

PumpkinDart · 07/02/2023 22:10

Our HoF has been credit exchange only for a while, I got the sense last time I was in that it was on the verge of closing down so made sure that the dress fit before I bought it.

Nap1983 · 07/02/2023 22:12

Terrible customer service… used to be a favourite of mine but it’s awful now since been taken over.. they do everything possible but to refund you…
