Swimming costume for the long in body

Help please!

I'm not particularly tall (5 foot 8) but I'm really struggling to find a swimming costume that caters for the long in body. M&S used to do a "long" range, but they seem to not do that any more, and all the costumes I've tried on either end up exposing my bum or my boobs.

Any suggestions? Ideally for a high street shop as I'd like (need) to try on before buying.

Should have said, I want it for swimming lengths mostly.

I managed to find a costume on asos from their tall range a few years ago. It's more fashion than function though but might be worth looking. Not high street but their returns policy is pretty good.

Lands End do swimsuits for longer bodies. Can be expensive but usually do good sales. No stores but returns are easy.

I am nearly 5,8 and I find the Speedo leg suit range the easiest fit. You can try-before-you-buy on Amazon.

Boden do a long version of their swimsuits which I really like

SheWoreYellow · 28/01/2023 13:01

Is there a reason you don’t want a tankini? I find they’re the perfect solution to this. The Boden ones are long enough that you don’t end up with a gap.

Quietlyhere · 28/01/2023 13:03

It took me a while to find one long enough (and I'm only 5'5). I tried Long Tall Sally and Halocline tall ones but both were too short. In the end a Boden tall one worked for me.

Cileymyrus · 28/01/2023 13:05

If you’re swimming lengths go for a sports swimsuit, not a fashion brand one.

try somewhere like proswimwear, aquaswimsupplies with easy returns.

Head, iirc is long bodied. But try speedo, adidas, arena, tyr etc. different designs may come up slightly different proportions.

queenofthewild · 28/01/2023 13:07

I'm short in stature but long in body by comparison.

The Boden long swimsuits are really long. But buy in the sales. They are £££

mistermagpie · 28/01/2023 13:32

I have this problem (also 5'8" so god knows what actual tall people do!) and always have to size up to try and get a bit more length.

I'd happily wear a tankini but I never see any for sale!

LadyBundleBrent · 28/01/2023 14:54

I'm the same as you - 5'8" and long body. Summersalt do long body swimsuits, though expensive. Mine is great though I would perhaps size down if buying another.

Boden good but found the long body styles a bit frumpy.

Have had varied success with COS and arket, as scandi brands can be cut for taller people (but it isn't always the case).

I would disagree. The one I have isn't that long, in fact I didn't realise I had a long body until I tried the regular and needed the long. I also don't think it's frumpy

I like Speedo short legged tankinis- they’re loads more comfortable than a one piece. They come up small, though- size up.

Rainbowshit · 28/01/2023 18:00

Speedo here too.

I have a dual problem in that I have a very long body and big boobs so swimsuit buying is painful.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/01/2023 18:04

Same here; 5'7" but long body, big bust. I've got a DHB tri suit and I sized up. Works for me.

ScratchyItchy · 28/01/2023 18:43

I have the same problem though I’m only 5’5”. I’ve found some of the Zoggs ones great - the high neck ones -and have just ordered a Speedo one from Bravissimo that comes with a bust shelf and straps that can be lengthened which makes the whole thing a bit longer. I didn’t get on with halocline. Am still searching for the holy grail of bust support/long body/legs not too high or too low…

TheOGCCL · 28/01/2023 22:14

Long bodied here with large bust that sucks up material too. Also don't like spending a lot as chlorine seems to eat mine whatever I spend. My most recent one is this

The latest speedo ones were terrible on me, they do have some with adjustable straps though but I wanted one for pool swimming and they seemed more for the beach. Ended up getting a Sweaty Betty one in the sale.

The Batoko ones look fun if that's your jam, look like they'd fit a range of heights.
