Hair removal woes

I’m 40 years old and still haven’t found a hair removal method that works for me. I thought I would try veet again today and it just didn’t work. I have coarse dark body hair and I left the veet on my legs for about 12 mins (instructions said 10 mins max) and when I washed it off I was left with about 25% of the hair firmly attached. Do other people leave it on for a lot longer than instructed?

Shaving gives me terrible ingrowing hairs and raised red bumps which is unsightly.

I can’t face waxing because it seems like such a huge financial and time commitment (especially expensove where I live in London).

I’ve resorted to always keeping my legs covered, even on the hottest of summer days.

Someone help!

If you can afford a Philips Lumea it’s a game changer. Got rid of all my dark body hair on legs, armpits, bikini line. Expensive purchase initially but cost effective in the long run in my case. Think they’ve come down in price since I got mine a few years ago.

I have the same. I have to shave off Veet even after leaving it for twice as long as it says, doesn't cut through my pcos course hairs in the slightest. I did find a men's course hair one by Veet or Nair did work pretty well.

I have a home laser Braaun machine though and that works pretty well but I have found that I need continual use, it subsided significantly for several months but if I don't keep using it once every two weeks continually it grows back as strong as before.

I used my home IPL about 6 times total and all my hair is gone. I also have coarse dark hair (Mediterranean colouring) and was amazed at how good it was. I’ve done face, legs, toes, fingers, arm pits, just doing bikini line too. 100% recommend mine (Smoothskin gold)

Get a Lumea, it will change your life!

If you can’t afford a home IPL device have you tried epilating? Or waxing yourself?

Waxing is less painful and if you buy the heater thing and then beads of hot wax it’s not that expensive.

Do you exfoliate daily after shaving?

Epilator is a one time purchase c£100.

However it has its downsides like every hair removal method.

I've just started laser hair removal. Just my top lip and chin at the moment but am so impressed after the first session that I am going to also have my bikini line done. It's not that cheap but to me it's worth the investment as I was having to use hair removal cream in those areas every week or so and shave my bikini line every few days.

Removing my leg hair doesn't bother me as much but if it did, I would also get it done on my legs.
