Smart casual - plus size?

I need clothes for a work trip on a month or so - we're going away for training for a few days, and it's near some gorgeous countryside, so I guess we may walk to a country pub. (Relatively short walks, not hiking)

We usually WFH so I normally only need to look presentable from the top of my arms up! It's been so long since I spent time in real life with work colleagues, I'm not sure where to start - help!

What kind of thing would you wear?

I'm size 24, round and can't do waists - my tops need to be long line, or dress. I can't wear anything that needs tucking in, or has a waist.

It really is annoying! There's a FatFace in town, not far from Next (neither of which stock my size) so I thought I could just take them back there. But the small print. I now know, says you can't take back stuff to FatFace instore if you paid with PayPal. Which I did. I've never heard of that before Hmm

At the risk of sounding blunt, you keep linking to pics of very slim women, and you’re not going to be able to visualise yourself in these outfits as a result.

Have you thought of getting some inspiration from Instagram plus size influencers? I looked at Dani Varnier and she’s got some lovely outfits on her page, great quality and very well put together. She links most items too so you’ll know where to get them x

But, I did get some things I am keeping.

Both these Fat Face cord shirt dresses fits me well. Just like others I've loved wearing before.

Need some new skinny jeans to go with the navy one as it's effectively an oversize shirt, not a dress. (Don't care if skinnies are out of fashion now, it took me about 2 years to accept skinny jeans and I love them now, I'm not ready to give them up just yet!)

I think I'll try to find a light or bright top to layer under it, like in the image.

And, I have plenty of snag tights already to go with the teal one that's actually a dress - Snag are great :)

So, I'm pleased with them.

Next do some really comfy jersey jeans, very very stretchy.

The skinny models are wearing the actual clothes I'm thinking of buying, I'm sharing to see what people think of the clothes, not to try to visualise them on as such.

I've bought very similar from those shops before, so I have a pretty good idea what they'll look like on - well the tunics and the dresses, anyway.

But, I hadn't thought of of looking at Instagram for inspiration. I guess I might fins some new branda that way. I'll have a look and see what I can find, thanks.

Will be interesting to see if I can find someone who's a similar shape to me - the woman you linked to is a very different shape, and is mostly wearing things that won't suit my shape at all (e.g. lots of cropped or tucked in tops and belts - I literally wouldn't leave the house!).

Never heard of jersey jeans before - but, I had some really comfy jeans ages ago, I couldn't remember where I got them from, and had no idea what to search on when they got too old to wear, and I did try as I loved them!

They were really stretchy, I wonder if they were jersey jeans? I'll have a look at Next in the morning, thanks :)

Do you have any idea how tall is she is please as she looks tiny in height? Just I am almost 6ft. Have looked at tallfatfabulous40 but whilst I love the bright colours as some of the outfits she puts together are quite gaudy and casual and also I am older than her.

Coming back on here to recommend Seasalt asphodel cords. On sale and some bigger sizes left! I hardly ever wear anything other than jeans or a couple of work slim fit black trousers so it's nice to wear something else. Straight on today - arrived yesterday. I'm wearing them with a long sleeved t shirt (M&S) and a tank jumper and Chelsea boot DMs. And the M&S car coat mac and a Chucky giant yellow scarf.

I follow Bryony Gordon and Elfa Wilmot on Instagram - and one other whose name I forget - as much for body confidence as fashion! Helen Thorn of Scummy mummies has lost weight since she used to post as helenisasize18 - and is inspirational in how she now looks!! I also follow trayslounge who is anything but plus sized but rocks slightly older woman fashion.
