Botox or retinol for lines above lip?

I'm not a smoker but I have four pronounced lines, 2 under each nostril and 2 immediately above my lip. I think I've probably got them from sleeping on my side.
Is retinol any good for this and what brand/strength would you use? I realise that it will take a while to work but if it softens the lines that might be enough.

I'm tempted to try botox but it doesn't last long does it so that's going to be an expensive maintenance treatment.
Any experience/suggestions? I don't have too many wrinkles but I absolutely HATE these 'smoker's' lines which I think are really ageing. I'm 59 BTW 😂.

Hello! Retinol is a great preventative and it may help with reducing the appearance, but this does take time. The lines will still be present in any case. Without being able to see a picture you may actually require a tiny tiny amount of filler within those lines, and I would also recommend chemical peeling to help reduce the appearance. Happy to recommend a practise to you if you would like to DM me!

Retinol might soften them slightly after a few years of use, but there are no miracle cures with tret. It will not get rid.

You need filler for that area. Instant results.
