Hi there
I usually buy Chanel vitalumiere in shade 30 but it's being discontinued apparently so there's nothing in stock online and I can't get to any counters to try to locate any. Has anyone got any good alternatives? I did try Armani silk I think its called during lockdown but the colour was totally wrong. Please help make up aficionados!

Have you tried ebay to stock up? I’ve found my discontinued products on there.

I used to use VL but moved to TSL Touche Eclat foundation. I recently tried YSL Nu, which is gorgeous. Marketed as a tinted moisturiser, but buildable. I’ve had comments on how glowy my skin looks.

Hi OP, did you manage to find anything similar? I've also sworn by this in the same shade for over 10 years. Can't believe they've discontinued it!

Chocolatetadpole · 15/03/2023 14:13

Nooo I didn't know this, this is my shade and HG foundation.

I've tried Armani Luminous (god I can't remember the full name) which isn't bad but far less glowy and it stinks. I'm so disappointed to read that Vitalumiere is discontinued.

I'm seriously gutted about this.

John Lewis branches have quite a lot of in branch stock. The branch stock levels are on their website and they will post it out to you if needed.

Hi

i use this product. They’re not discontinuing it, rather they’re trying to get rid of old stock. They have come out with the same product, but it does not have SPF in it, therefore it is not quite the same. I have bought a bottle, but I’m not sure I will be as loyal as I was to the older version. Without the spf it’s changed the product. Less dewy.

What's the new version called? Can't see it.

Try Nars

Chocolatetadpole · 16/03/2023 13:27

@Musicalfan what's the name of the new version? Shame they've faffed with the formula.

I reckon they're talking about that No.1 foundation

I was very disappointed that vituluminere was discontinued

tried several testers for other makes but nothing comes close

it was an oil based foundation and most oil based are such light coverage

Armani is ok but nowhere near same

so far Le mer is closest I’ve found but I’m still trying testers

Nars is very Matt and yellow
channel have nothing else close
dior was ok

im still searching to find anything better and if not I will use le mer
but they don’t have a shade that I find is very close

I used 50 natural in vitaluminere

crazy they stopped doing it but they don’t seem to care

Hi

Is it oil based? I know that Vitalumiere aqua is water based and it was this formulation that made it so gentle on the skin but maybe the other Vitalumiere is oil based.

Apparently Sisley do a good water based foundation and so do Clea de Peau but I haven't tried either of them yet.

I tried a sample of Suqq foundation as so many beauty editors rave about it but the shades were all too yellow for me and it's even more pricey than Chanel.

I'm devastated about Vitalumiere Aqua being discontinued and will just have to wear a bag over my head from now on.

I was so disappointed when Vitalumiere was discontinued as I was wearing it for years. I changed to Vitalumiere Aqua but tried to get it last week and now it has been discontinued too! So disappointed

Did anyone find a good alternative?

Any idea why Chanel discontinued such popular products?

I've been using Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue. It's the closest I've come to a replacement and it's still not the same. Resort now to using Charlotte Tilsbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow to get the same glowy look that Vitalumiere did. At least it's a little cheaper though!
