Shoes advice - daytime dress

I have this dress and in the summer wear it as per the picture with white converse.

Question is, what footwear do I wear this season with it? I have navy tights. Can't imagine I can wear white converse with navy tights?

I'm not great with heels.

I'd wear ankle boots for winter

evemillbank · 25/01/2023 11:12

Brown ones

Mosaic123 · 25/01/2023 11:13

Ankle boots? Green suede with dark green thick tights?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/01/2023 11:16

A dressier/ delicate ankle boot or chunky? I'd prefer something I could wear with jeans and leggings as well as I don't want multiple pairs

Not dressy, I'd just go for a flat ankle boot

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/01/2023 11:21

I really like these - would they be too clumpy to wear with a dress?

Can you tell I'm shit at this Grin

Late thirties if that changes anything.

Chunky ankle boots

GoldDuster · 25/01/2023 11:26

Here's loads of pretty dresses and chunky boots

newrubylane · 25/01/2023 11:27

Personally I like knee high boots with a midi dress. Also it helps with the clashing tights colour dilemma somewhat!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/01/2023 11:28

Oh I am WAY to chunky of calf to wear a knee high boot, and way too narrow an ankle to buy plus sized boots. I even have to buy ankle wellies

For dresses/skirts, I like ankle boots with a very low and chunky heel. I've got two colours of the UGG boots below; I'm not sure they do this specific one any more, but you get the idea.
Also, what about Converse/trainers in a different colour with dark tights?

That's exactly what I'd choose and Sainsbury’s boots are great IME.

Oh excellent!! I'll pop into the big branch near me tonight.

I think that's a really dated look now and often less flattering.

highfidelity · 25/01/2023 11:43

Of course you can wear this dress with navy tights and white Converse.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/01/2023 12:15

Would they not just gleam at the bottom of a generally dark outfit?

OP posts:
MarkWithaC · 25/01/2023 15:48

They might look slightly 'nurse'y. But I'm not sure that's a bad thing Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/02/2023 16:00

Ran out of time to sort footwear - does this look ridiculous??

I can just not wear the dress if it does.

I think that looks fine. The white in the dress picks up the converse white.

PaulRobinsonsSeventhWife · 01/02/2023 16:11

I don't think the Converse and tights work, bare legs or boots with tights.

Errrrrrm can you... 🫣

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/02/2023 16:39

I've put the dress back in the wardrobe til summer when I can wear it bare legged with some nice sandals.

MarkWithaC · 02/02/2023 14:26

Pity, i think it looks nice in your pic!

mewkins · 02/02/2023 15:13

I think it's a bare legs only type dress regardless of what you wear on your feet.

fluffypillowsandfeathers · 02/02/2023 15:15

No to the dress with tights and converse
