Help, have a dress, need something to wear if it's chilly

Please help, I haven't a clue!
I'm going to a wedding in June, it's quite a casual wedding, but I am wearing this dress, with red shoes.I love it, but what on earth can I wear over it if the weather is cool or when the sun goes down?
The best I've come up with is some sort of chunky oversized cardigan, but I'm not sure it'd look great.
I love the Nancy Mac seafoam velvet coat- that won't match but maybe velvet would work or is that no good for June?

Lovely dress OP.

Nancy Mac jackets come in short sleeves or elbow length as well as full length, maybe more summery (although I think the cherry red would look gorgeous) www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/shrugs

The shrugs might be too patterny for that dress, maybe a plain silk kimono like this? www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/shrugs

Thank you! I'll have a good look, I seem to have missed half the stuff on Nancy Mac.

This is the one I love - if I'd have seen this first I'd have bought that and then found a dress to work with it, instead of the other way round. Not that I'll ever have a reason to wear it again! Actually a light duster coat might work if I could find something.

Dress is Needle & Thread, I bought it on Black Friday. I'm a scruffy jeans person usually but feel incredibly girly and swishy in it. Doubt I'll get any more wear out of that either tho!Smile

Definitely worth more of a look on Nancy Mac, I think the short sleeved velvet jacket is dreamy and not at all wintery, (Liliana), also the 3/4 sleeve Estelle and full length sleeve Rosa

Ghost make lovely dressy wraps/shawls if that's more your thing https://www.ghost.co.uk/shawls (I always get in a tangle with them but I think pashminas & shawls are on their way back)

If a cardigan still tempts you, maybe something like this I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/french-connection-josie-drape-jacket-barley-sugar/p2667537?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappios&size=14&&_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

Or a gassato cashmere one www.purecollection.com/womens/cardigans/gassato-swing-cardigan-pink-4633 comes in loads of colours

Ah that second cardigan could work! I'm hoping it's a lovely day and it'd never come out of my bag, but then if that happened, I could wear it any other time. Thank you!

I love the longline Nancy Mac velvet coat but I’d be worried about it not being warm enough (never seen one in real life so could be talking rubbish) and dampening the ‘swishyness’ of the dress. The cropped red one could work (provided it does actually warm you up, I’d want something long sleeved).

Is it fitted at the waist? I’d be tempted to go with a cardigan, one that’s softly oversized/chunky but either cropped or fitted at the waist to keep the shape of the dress (plus you might get more wear out of it than the jacket?). Colour wise (the dress isn’t projecting brilliantly on my screen so take this with a pinch of salt) - an oatmeal type colour or perhaps a gentle pink? Perhaps something like one of these - pink cashmere, grey/brown ballet wrap, oat alpaca, light grey wrap, Beige mohair wrap. If you have the same budget as for the Nancy Mac coat there’s a lot of lovely cashmere/good quality wool etc in the sales. You might need to order a few though and see how they actually sit with the dress.

Find a good quality beautiful pashmina to wear in a plain but bright colour to match your dress. I have one given to me as a present years ago and is perfect for cool spring/summer/autumn days and looks wonderful.
