Foundation like EL but not as heavy

Hi, I got myself into a good skin care routine (tretoin) and my skin is glowing. I love Estee L Double Wear for its coverage and the fact it stick to my face like a glue so I look half decent throughout a day but I find it quite heavy now and sort of dull. Is there something that would give full coverage and that durability but is more dewy and light. I feel like its a wishful thinking as usually those features exclude each other but there seem to be a glimmer of hope. Any recommendations lovely ladies please?

have you tried their Double Wear Lite? it suits me, but then I haven't used DW original

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 19:20

Hi @PurpleFresias I had hydra and futurist aqua from EL the first I did not liked a smell off and the latter was sliding off my face even with primer but ai haven't heard about this one... Thank you I will check the original website

Hm I cant seem to find Lite on the EL website 😔 There is this Re-nutrive but cost almost £100 - I would spend it If I knew it would work 😬

I used to use this but literally the tiniest amount, like a quarter of a pump, on a buffing brush and then just went to town spreading it as thin as possible so it was a sheer veil. Much nicer than when I used to use a full pump over my whole face, I found it was looking really heavy and settling into fine lines within a few hours. I loved it as a foundation though; just very very sparingly. I don’t wear makeup anymore really so now just go bare faced which is even easier 😂

ladymalfoy45 · 18/01/2023 19:39

Took a punt at the one that crops up on my FB.
Love it. Really dubious about the match process and thought it wouldn't work but I think it's brilliant.

BettyBoopy · 18/01/2023 19:44

If there is I would like to know!

meetmeatmidnights · 18/01/2023 19:49

I love the Chanel vitalumière auqa foundation, it's what I switched to after using DW.

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 19:52

@TheChosenTwo you mean you used re-nutrive one? 🤔 Thats good to know it did not match the expectations (although sad in the same time 😭) . Its a lot of money to just risk it. I admire you for going bare faced - I have only managed that during the leisure, work has been always the place I cant seem to be brave enough as I would loose (admit-ably out of stupidity) half of my self confidence 😭but then Im ugly 🤣

@BettyBoopy it does feel like its the Holly Grail Almost... 😆

Revlon colorstay is a dupe for double wear and I find it easier to build up layers for more or less coverage.

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 19:57

@meetmeatmidnights does it stay on as long? I cant justify leaving my desk to go to reapply so if that has similar durability I will be happy to explore thank you 🌷

I used to always use Double wear but found the same issue as me. Too Matt, too many creases and just not looking great any more.

I now use Chanel ultra le teint and it's really good! Highly recommend it. ESP if you're going on holiday as it was £10 cheaper at the airport when I went last!

PAFMO · 18/01/2023 19:57

Doublewear light is discontinued. They now do Doublewear Sheer which is much lighter than light (itswim)
Full coverage but still a bit glowy- Erborian BB cream, Nars Sheer Glow (daftest name ever, it's anything but sheer) Hydraluminous by N7.

simplesimply · 18/01/2023 20:00

Like pp I also use double wear but only a small amount, it sit much nicer on the skin like that.
Another one that I like is the It cosmetics cc cream it comes in the regular silver packaging or in a pink packaging which is more luminous, I've only tried the regular one and has basically replaced the double wear for me it is a bit glowy, I use powder over it because I have oily skin but if you use without powder its definitely glowy, if you want something even more glowy then try the luminous one.

rizzo999 · 18/01/2023 20:06

I had the same problem after a while with Double Wear but recently tried L'Oréal infallible and it's really good. Not cakey or heavy and stays on all day, and about a third of the price!

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 20:13

@whatthebejesus ultra le teint - is it full coverage by any chance? X

Oh no, sorry, I was talking about the ELDW! I was typing and then ds came into the room mid typing to discuss his toenail 🤣 and show me how he has mastered the art of fake walking down the stairs 🫣 so I had to quickly finish typing and posted before proof reading, I would have probably realised that I hadn’t clarified which foundation!

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 20:14

@PAFMO I will look into no7 as I like their creams thank you x

Ps i’m ugly too too but I figure it’s not me who has to see my face is it?! It’s everyone else 😂 not wasting money for their benefit!!
Plus I’m also lazy, so when I have to go to work I prioritise sleep over my appearance (I am freshly showered and washed, just totally bare faced, I’m not dirty).

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 20:17

@rizzo999 I have tried this one but My skin is so not even in colour - red around nose, freckles, some scars that I need sadly a full coverage but thank you it might suit someone reading through thread 😘

It certainly is! 😁. And buildable too if you want extra coverage. I find one pump is more than enough

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 20:18

@simplesimply I will check this one as well 😊x

Agree also about the L'Oreal Infallible- in fact I've got half a tube of Infallible Pro-Glow which is great. Bought it for a wedding. Full coverage but with that luminous look.

Hehx3 · 18/01/2023 20:20

@TheChosenTwo 😆 I will blame all those magazines that I read in 90's that skewed our beauty perception!
