Socks or knee high pop socks dilemma.

Not really a dilemma obviously, as it’s a question about socks…

After nearly 20 years of wearing the same uniform to work every day (NHS) I’m now in a position where I can wear nice office clothes! Whoop! I want to
wear tailored trousers with brogue or loafer style shoes. The trousers are ankle length and do expose the ankle. I’m not mentally or emotionally ready to return to a bootcut or flared trouser.

With my cigarette style trousers what is the best sock option from a fashion point of view? Would ordinary plain black socks would look right. To me they look wrong, but I’m totally clueless.

I cannot bear those tiny footsie things, they always slip off my heel so is the only alternative to wear knee high pop socks?

Incidentally, I always find pop socks work their way down my leg too and I end up looking like Nora Batty. So recommendations re. Brands would be great!

Asda own brand pop socks, I wear them with trousers for work have no problem with them working their way down

Personally I hate pop socks so I'd got for invisible sock things like these. Can't vouch for those specific ones but I've had similar pairs over the years and they work fine, you can't see them.

I’ve also had some from primark made of y-short type material with silicon edging so they don’t slide about.

Interesting coloured, pattered socks that go with eg your top or lipstick.

It depends on which type of shoes and top you are wearing.
If the top was someting like a pussy cat bow blouse and the shoes quite dressy, then popsocks (showing my age there maybe )
If flat chunky shoes and a bright jumper then socks - bright if you are the type to get away with it.

So at the moment it’s blouse and loafers. So I’m trying pop socks but I don’t really like the way they feel, if that makes sense. I’d love to just wear normal socks!!

I like a primark lace footsie! Popsock shown under cigarette trousers where the sit in the calf. Or a knee high sock.
