What to wear for a work meeting

I’ve just been ask to attend a client site to do a couple of hours work. It’s been around 4 years since I went to any kind of work meeting as I work from home and all I’ve been wearing are jeans, jumpers and trainers!
What passes as smart these days? My manager usually just wears trousers and shirt but he’s a man so that’s easy for him.
Please help me decide what to wear as I am totally out of the loop as to what’s remotely fashionable or acceptable!

Aren't black or navy trousers and a blazer type jacket acceptable anywhere? With shirt or t-shirt under, dressed up with a scarf if you like.

Would your manager have worn that before?
I guess what I'm saying is what used to pass as smart still does now.
What I've noticed is more people go for smart jeans than before, but the jeans were probably appropriate for that company beforehand... just most people didn't wear them.
Perhaps the only real difference is footwear. You could probably get away with white trainers if wearing a suit where before that would have looked 'off.'

Depends on the business.

Many women wear dresses and smart trainers to work now.

I wear chunky black boots, trousers and a loud shirt. It's smart enough

No one wears suits and jackets anymore.
