Questions about nose piercings

Hiya, I know there are old threads in this but I have some specific questions if those with experience are happy to answer…

I’d like to get a very minimalist nose piercing and I know I need to start with a stud even if I want a ring down the line. So questions:

if you now wear a minimalist ring what diameter and gage do you wear? Anonymised photos as examples would be helpful as google suggests 8mm but that seems massive.

if I get a stud with a 1.5mm ball/jewel at the start is that too small? Does it risk embedding into my nose?

does it really close up neatly if I absolutely hate it and/or have problems with it?

Finally, a less technical Q, do people really notice when you have it done? it’s for me and my ideal outcome is that it doesn’t scream “look at my fancy new piercing”

Recently has mine done in bury was offered stud or hoop, choose hoop Knew I wouldn't suit a stud and not my style. Wish now I had done it years ago.

I wear an L Shaped flat stud like this www.etsy.com/uk/listing/798703685/x2-24g-tiny-12mm-gold-or-sterling-silver?ref=yr_purchases and often people who I have known for years comment on it in surprise as they haven't noticed it previously

My husband has his nose pierced he is mid 30s. Lots of people didn't notice! It's funny it took me a while to get used to but it really suits him. He got a small stud but will try a ring in a few weeks.

Thought I should come back and say that I did it a few days ago! Tiny flat back labret stud. So far so good…

I really want my nose pierced, but ridiculously I’m worried about reactions at 47… yes I’m ridiculous I know.

also after been pierced, how long until you can wear make up?

Procrastatron · 25/01/2023 19:05

Hi @MabelMoo23 I’m a similar age and nobody has really reacted to mine even in my professional setting job, not sure people have noticed or if they have if they care tbh. It’s almost disappointing 😂
Regarding makeup I have been carefully applying it near but not over the piercing and that has been fine. Do it!!

p.s. bit of advice from my piercer, if you are undecided on which side, go for the opposite side to where you wear rings, so when you wash/rub your face it doesn’t snag.

Yay @Procrastatron , glad you got it done! Hope you are loving it and it heals up nicely for you. Hi @MabelMoo23 , I'm 47 too, got mine done a year or two ago (forgotten already😂) and hardly anyone notices, not even when it was new. I did the same as procrastotron with my makeup, going close to it but not on it, never had any issues, just need to clean round it with a cotton bud to make sure I get all the makeup off again at night.

Wonky pic but I have two. Got my first done (with a gun) when I was early 20s. Mid 40s now and had second (needle) last year. No idea of gauge but might have a thord. Truly they are hardy noticed by others. I tend to spot them but I guess if you have one or want one, more likely to?
