Does anyone use a face toning device that they think is worth it? And have seen the benefits?

I'm thinking to add something like this to my already existing nightly cleansing + moisturising routine but wondering if it's actually worth it or if it's just a fad?

Watching with interest. I used to have an old fashioned one, about 10 years ago slender tone maybe?) and it really did make a difference although was a faff and I think it broke and then I got out of the habit and never replaced it. Would love to know if there’s any good new ones, my face is collapsing!

dontgobaconmyheart · 01/01/2023 19:49

Not what you've asked - but I am thinking of getting a Nuface mini as I've had so many positive word of mouth reviews from friends (+ encouraging pictures of the results).

I don't know, I need to be sure in my own mind that I'll actually sit down and use it every day because from what I hear the results are in the consistency and I certainly don't think what results there are are kept up if use of it discontinues or are permanent so to speak but I don't think it's reasonable to expect that (or miracles) from any of these devices.

I have a Foreo Bear and love it. I use it whilst DS is in the bath along with the rest of my skincare routine.

I have a NuFace mini and it’s been worth every penny. My mum and best friend have bought one too after commenting on the results.

You definitely do have to use it consistently, so I’ve got into the habit of using it every time I’m watching a movie or something on Netflix…you don’t even notice and it doesn’t feel like a chore.

When I ran out of the gel that came with it, I decided to try it with the peach aloe vera gel I already owned and it works perfectly. Just don’t use it with a moisturiser or oil - it needs to be a water based gel.

AthenaWhite · 03/01/2023 20:08

Foreo bear, love it. Firmed up my jawline and plumped up top lip. I use it every morning for a quick routine and do a longer routine twice a week or so. Barely needs charging and can work with or without the app.

Waterfallgirl · 04/01/2023 10:27

Watching also with interest.
How long does the serum last with the Foreo Bear? I can see it’s about £50 for 39ml on Cult Beauty?

Farmageddon · 04/01/2023 11:51

I got the NuFace Mini a couple of years ago, and didn't see great results - but to be honest I found it a total faff to use and didn't keep up with it consistently.

I didn't have time to use it in the mornings, so I tried using it in the evenings. I had to wash my face first (even if I wasn't wearing make up, I would have to remove traces of sunscreen), put on the sticky gel, which I hated the feel of, use it on each side of my face for 5 -10 mins (I couldn't really concentrate on watching tv or anything during this, it was too distracting).
Then I'd have to double cleanse to get the gel off, before I could put my actual skincare on. Also, sometimes I would get little flickers of light in my eyes when using it, which freaked me out.

I'm quite lazy, so it didn't suit me at all. If you're going to invest it in, be sure that you will put the time and effort for it, I didn't.

I know some people claim it's brilliant, but I remember seeing dermatologist talk about it on youtube, and they said there wasn't much research behind the technology, so I'm not sure.

Watching with interest as I'm considering one too mainly for sagging jaw line

You lot are a bad influence! that's my NY resolution of no unnecessary spending blown!!

QVC have the mini Feroeo Bear with serum on easy pay so I can pay in three instalments. Plus I can send it back within 30 days if I find it doesn't work. Or if, as is more likely the case, I just find it too much faff

I use this** and I love it. I paid full price 3 or more years ago - about £230 - and when it gave up I bought a second one. Then I saw it on this website for £29.99 and bought a third as a spare!

I have the small one. What fluid do you use. The foreo one is so expensive. Ultrasound gel feels so funky and horrible.

I was using ultrasound gel for a while too, but I hated the way it felt and it was a faff having to wash it off afterwards. I then tried aloe gel, which worked but my skin didn’t like that much.
I did lots of research and found a recommendation for this on Reddit. It’s lovely on my skin, really moisturising and a little goes a long way so the bottles will last forever. The price does fluctuate on Amazon quite a bit, but it is great value compared to the Foreo serum.

FunnyTalks · 04/01/2023 12:57

Can I ask if nuface or foreo sting or feel odd at all?

I had a cheapo brand from boots but stopped using it after a weird stingy sensation.

purpledalmation · 04/01/2023 17:22

@BangingOn Thanks so much xx

Yes like mini electric shocks but it's what they're meant to do. Not painful but odd feeling. They are hocks which is why u need a water based serum as water conducts electricity

MzLucky · 04/01/2023 17:33

Dh got me one as a stocking filler from home bargains. He thought it would be good for my sinus and migraine problems. It looks cheap and was probably about £10. But oh my days its amazing. Going to buy another one as a back up. It's silver with a handle and two silver balls at the top. It's really amazing at working your face muscles. Would definitely highly recommend.

VladmirsPoutine · 04/01/2023 18:59

@purpledalmation Hang on... Are you saying apart from the device you need a fluid of sorts??

OP posts:
pharmachameleon · 04/01/2023 19:38

I use an Aldi microcurrent device and I try and be consistent with it. I find that it works just as well if I just splash water on my face rather than using any serum or gel. Still get the same shocks on my skin.

How come it’s so cheap on the site you linked to?

BodyShapeWoes · 08/01/2023 09:12

@MzLucky can you please show me a picture of the home bargains one I nipped in yesterday and couldn’t find any

@MzLucky thank you - I’ll pop to the one near work tomorrow
