Bayswater’s- can be heavy even when empty!

For an everyday tote then a le plaige is worth considering.

FlowerLilyFix · 01/01/2023 18:57

I’ll have a look! Thanks, yes saw a friend with the Bayswater today and thought it looked nice but leather was ‘thick’

Yes! I am making it my goal to use mine
more this year!It will force me to think about what I actually need to carry.

KittenCatt · 01/01/2023 21:27

I really rate the Longchamp Le Pliage 😊

Christmascracker0 · 01/01/2023 21:40

The Bayswater is so so so heavy!! It’s only good if you are in the car a lot 😂 the Bayswater tote is not bad though!

I like this Strathberry one - www.strathberry.com/products/mosaic-shopper-black

YSL also have a nice one - www.harrods.com/en-gb/shopping/shopping-saint-laurent-ew-tote-bag-16073504?utm_source=google_uk&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=women&utm_content=saint_laurent_16073504-7983&gclid=CjwKCAiA-8SdBhBGEiwAWdgtcBTfJKDGULeWbc_9xdOjIIQkWDn4qSCPWg8zV0yEu7AqAkIEynjiuxoCVcsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Goyard have some nice tote bags but don’t sell online, you have to buy from a shop or preloved (and pay ££).

I will never be without a Longchamp le Pliage, they are such a great workhorse bag. I use the medium size for every day and have a large for work, gym, travel etc. I also have a holdall and backpack!

Christmascracker0 · 01/01/2023 21:41

Coach and Kate Spade usually have nice totes too.

FlowerLilyFix · 01/01/2023 21:42

Could someone send me a link to a black le pliage please? I’ve just bought a deep purple/pink one from BrandAlley.

do they come in all leather?

The YSL one is gorgeous - I’ve had it as my work bag (carries a laptop well) since 2018. Had a look last month to see about getting a new one as the straps are fading but it’s doubled in price in 4 years and it’s not even lined!

FlowerLilyFix · 01/01/2023 23:06

gorgeous! Thank you! And the YSL one is lush too!

I have a LV Neverfull (checked, red lining) and it’s a total workhorse, someone said the other day that I treat it like a suitcase and they’re not wrong! Great quality and holds loads. Agree with pp about the Longchamp though, I have a black with tan leather and love it.

Summerof22 · 02/01/2023 08:47

I’ve got a Goyard bag and I absolutely love it, it holds so much, great for hand hold luggage and it’s so well made, it still looks perfect.

Whichever you get, I would advise you to get a tote organiser, or you’ll never be able to find anything.

it also keeps the lining spotless, so great if you’re thinking of reselling down the line.

DashboardConfessional · 02/01/2023 08:47

They do come in all leather - Le Pliage Cuir. Obviously much more money though - approx 3 times the price of the canvas ones.

I get all mine from Brandalley too! I have 2 large totes, a small Neo, and 2 backpacks.

FlowerLilyFix · 03/01/2023 00:06

All very lovely and will look into an organiser too!!

I really want a Prada tote but I cannot justify the cost. Sigh

BabyDriversMummy · 15/01/2023 06:26

I find the handles on the Neverfull far too thin. Whilst they are sufficient for carrying all of your belongings (the sole reason for buying a Tote) the handles cut into your hand / shoulder.

The other options you mention in your OP are heavy when empty. Add all of the things you’ll carry in a Tote and the bag becomes far too heavy.

I thoroughly recommend a Longchamp Le Pliage.

Sootyspuppetmaster · 15/01/2023 08:24

Another one to recommend a Le Pliage, could not do without mine esp for travelling.

But I would not pay the price for some of the dividers out there, I use small zipped packing cubes.

Zone2NorthLondon · 04/06/2023 20:24

Le pliage is ghastly I saw them about and presumed it was a GWP freebie, not that anyone actually purchased it. That is a case if marketing over common sense to convince women they need a nylon bag. Jesus a nylon bag with leather tabs retailing at £100+

LaffTaff · 04/06/2023 21:09

I've had both the bayswater tote and the bayswater heritage, and neither were heavy in the slightest. The BW tote was impractical, it's got a removable pouch but had no pockets/sections. The heritage isn't user friendly, it's fiddly to get in and out of.
I have a mini zipped bayswater at the moment, which I love (i'm liking cross body just now), but you can get the zipped bayswater in the larger tote size - gorgeous (and practical!) bag.
