Does anything think beautypie isn't as good as it used to be?

Joined beautypie during the first lockdown and built up a nice collection of products. Most times I've gone to restock favourites such as eye liner it's out of stock, lipstick out of stock and same with hair prodcucts. They've now introduced keep it reusable ranges for items like bronzer and lipstick but they are expensive to start with and add that to the monthly £5 I'm starting to think it's not worth it. It's a shame as I've lots of credit but can't spend it on anything useful for me! Anyone else or know of alternative?
Thanks

Yep, I’m in exactly the same boat. I love a lot of their products but everything’s always out of stock. I think I’m going to spend all my credit left on something like the candles and then leave.

Annon12345 · 01/01/2023 11:16

Good idea! I think maybe some body scrub to use it up and leave too! It was great when I first signed up

I'm falling out of love with it to be honest. I have an annual membership which is up in September and I don't think I'll renew. I did dither about renewing last September but thought I'd give it a chance.

I'm feeling meh about beauty products at the moment. I buy products but my skin doesn't seem to change much.

SleekMamma · 02/01/2023 15:53

The stick control is shocking. Always out of stock

SleekMamma · 02/01/2023 15:53

Stock control obv

I was contemplating getting BeautyPie membership but thanks for the heads up. I also find it annoying that they don't show price that members pay for items on their website any more, I'm sure they used to, they only show the guest price. So I'm reluctant to join up only to find that certain products aren't particularly affordable anyway.

lurkingfromhome · 02/01/2023 16:15

Yep, not finding it very good at all at the moment. I ordered 4 products a week before Christmas. The next day, got an email to say that one of them was out of stock. Then the package got lost in transit. By the time that got sorted, another product was out of stock. They arranged for the remaining two products to be sent by expedited delivery. Still haven’t got them.
I know it’s the holiday season and all, but it’s not great.

Annon12345 · 02/01/2023 16:20

That's disappointing. One of the items I wanted in December was a Japanese cleaner. They'd sold out but weirdly had it in stock in a 3 pack. I got that assuming it was 3 together and couldn't be split to sell separately but no was just 3 but in a box

I’ve not renewed my membership of a few years either. They are getting a bit sneaky, I feel. Prices have increased a lot, some have almost doubled in the last 18 months. They are no longer good products at cheap prices, they’ve got more expensive whilst brands like the ordinary, inkeylist, etc are growing.

They discontinue products which is frustrating. They used to have a lovely toner and now the only ones they do are acid ones which I don’t want.

I also think they are moving away from skincare in terms of new products. I want a lovely new cleanser, not £65 pyjamas.

the Japanfusion cleanser is nice, I bought one of those before my time was up! And they do a super hydration drop thing which I also really like.

Annon12345 · 02/01/2023 19:43

Well I've now got 3 Japanese fusion cleansers so thankfully that should keep me going! Going to look through tonight and cancel tomorrow

I agree. Had membership but lots of products were out of stock so I left. It’s very Bobby Brown like and the rrp is ridiculous

Karmatime · 02/01/2023 21:16

I was a member since the early days and had an annual membership which expired in October and I haven’t renewed. Prices have gone up way more than inflation and things are so often out of stock for months. There are still things I love and think are good value even at the increased member price but I’m not tempted to fork out £59 to be able to buy them. The RRP is ridiculous and even with 50% off that they are offering to non-members still massively overpriced. I’m slowly going to find substitutes from other brands once I run out of what I have.

KiwiMum2023 · 02/01/2023 21:44

It’s gone crazy expensive. No longer the smart bargain it was, sadly.

Menopants · 02/01/2023 23:18

I can find a substitute for their vitamin c moisturiser so I might resubscribe just for that!

SityingConar · 02/01/2023 23:24

I didn’t find it was ever that good! The RRPs are laughable and apart from a couple of useful products (also found the japanfusion cleanser alright), the products are mostly very meh.

If you have a specific item you want to get but you don’t feel it’s worth getting a whole subscription for, check out the swap/resale/ unwanted items group on Facebook.

Menopants · 02/01/2023 23:34

Presumably I can su scribe for a month and then cancel?

Luckingfovely · 02/01/2023 23:35

I'm going to go against the grain here as I'm still liking it - although am not using it as much as I used to, and doing more The Ordinary and Inkey List too.

I've not had a problem with stock - maybe just lucky - and the handful of products I love, I wouldn't want to do without.

Everyone always has a thing about the RRPs - but if you compare them to top brands, they are are almost exactly in line. Eyeliners were always always matched again the VB equivalents, for example.

What bothers me at the moment is how quick they are expanding into other areas - supplements, pyjamas, etc. I'm suspicious of them being able to maintain quality through such swift expansion / and stock levels which are often a problem for many I hear.

The jury is still out for me whether to renew again later this year!

The RRPs wouldn’t seem so fanciful of the products weren’t so average.

Menopants · 02/01/2023 23:59

I went onto Sephora and ordered some stuff instead!

Not quite. You can do a monthly subscription (I think a tenner per month) but it’s a three month minimum. What they are trying to push now is 59/69 (I can’t remember which) annual fee so you pay it once and then can access member prices for a whole 12 months.

If you go the monthly route, you have a cap on the amount you can buy (weirdly the limit applies to the inflated prices though), so you’ll likely find you can only buy 3-4 things a month. You can pay a higher amount per month for a bigger limit but that’s why it does make more sense to go for the annual one, because although you still have a cap, it’s a lot higher overall compared to 12 months of the monthly one.

but the prices now are so much higher than they used to be! So you’ll look at a serum that’s maybe £9/10 from beautypie, which is £7 from the inkeylist, not a lot of difference - but inkeylist don’t charge you £59 a year to be able to buy from them!

dizzyupthegirl86 · 03/01/2023 07:47

I think the other aspect for me, is that I liked being able to get all of my skincare from one place (and the bottles look nice in my medicine cabinet!), but the more and more they keep changing them and not offering products I think of as basic - the more I have to buy elsewhere. So it’s no longer a one-stop shop for me!

Catslovepies · 03/01/2023 08:50

Also going against the grain. I only joined in December and have ordered so much - for some reason even though I'm on a monthly membership they removed my spending limit which has been great. I love nearly everything I've bought - my favourites are probably the eyeshadow sticks, vitamin c cream capsules, and the super healthy skin body creme but there are many more items I really like also. I also used it to buy some Christmas gifts as my sister is really into makeup and skincare also and she loved her gifts. I don't know whether the rrps are ridiculous or not because I don't buy the kind of brands that cost that much so can't compare. And while I do like and use the inkey list and the ordinary I feel beauty pie products are better quality and have of course a much bigger range.
