Swim suits - why so unflattering?

At the swimming pool today was saddened/horrified at how ghastly everyone (male and female) over about 14 looks. Has any one any recommendations for realistic all in ones? Perhaps not going as far as this...

swimshop do some. are you looking for maximum coverage or structural support?

widgypog · 03/02/2008 20:59

I wear wide leg shorts with a bra support tankini top to get the most coverage without being too much. V hard to find though.got some in matalan last year

speedo sculpture is awesomely holding-insome, well named. nice muted colours and wide straps too, although not as chlorine resistant as it could be.

I have a 'magic swimsuit', pulls you in and pushes you up. I will try and find a link.

You obviously didn't go to the same pool as me yesterday. I am definitely over 14 and I looked gorgeous

Thanks for all advice - liked fishie's links to swimshop especially. Not sure I have enough even to pull in and up, but if I did would love the speedo sculpture suit (found on figleaves.com)

On the swimshop website they had a few items described as legsuits - this was my favourite. My DD has a tendency to curl her fingers under the nearest available edge of costume and pull, with embarassing consequences which would be at least be partly overcome by this garment. Only available in a 30" tho - hollow laughter...

There were others tho on the same principle on this and other websites which I might as a 'beefy' size 12/14 be able to fit into. However I do slightly wonder whether I would be perceiving myself as a sexy-strutting-surf-chick whereas I would actually more resemble the only gay in the village? any thoughts?
