Best hairbrush for VERY thick hair

Previously only two paddle brushes have worked : a wooden one from Body Shop, and one by TRESemmé - but I don't know which one and I've only got the soft bit with the bristles left!

Both bust and DD and I are desperate! Going shopping today....

Thank you in advance.

I swear by Kent wooden brushes.

Don't we need more detail about the hair ?Long or short? Is it fine but masses of it ,thick individual hairs ,straight ,wavy ,curly ?
My hair is coarse and thick ,straightish at front ,curly at back .Short .Wide tooth comb seems best for mine or a vented paddle brush with nylon bristles .

Sorry: we both have long thick hair - thick in both senses: the strands and the amount. Thanks for engaging.

I have long thick curly hair and I use a denman brush, but only brush when wet.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/12/2022 10:04

I think it depends what you're used to — I prefer this type of Denman brush, because it's what I've always used. I have long thick hair.

@Theheartmustpausetobreathe I can't see the pic properly.... am I doing something wrong? It looks verrry promising!

They are on the site recommended by Lightside so maybe not available in shops .But I thought you could look for similar .Or I think they are on ebay and Amazon .

Yy to denman and Kent paddle brushes. I've had some minor success with the wooden primark paddle brushes when they have them but the demand and kept are different league to anything else

Cinnamonandcoal · 29/12/2022 13:51

The Olivia Garden fingerbrush is astonishingly good. I don't know how but it just gets out all the tangles no problem. Better than the tangle teezer for thick hair I also have. My hair is long, very thick and wavy/curly.

FlounderingFruitcake · 29/12/2022 13:56

Mason pearson universal nylon. You’ll never buy another hairbrush so worth the investment!

Theheartmustpausetobreathe · 29/12/2022 14:28

Floundering that Mason Pearson looks fab ,I'm sure I had one 50 years ago when I brushed my long thick wavy hair .

But I've just ordered the Olivia Garden fingerbrush for my son who's long coarse thick hair goes from tangled to matted over night .
Thanks Cinnamon !

Cantu smooth thick hair brush from superdrug. 10 quid, which is a great price for boar bristle. PITA to clean though
