How do you learn to dress a new body??

I’ve lost a lot of weight and have found myself at a size 20 from a 32/34 (which I didn’t realise until a friend forced me (literally 😂) to try a jumper on and I’ve apparently got no idea how to dress in anything other than leggings, jogging a and a sack 🙃

I’ve started branching out 🙃 to jumpers and jeans and I bought a wrap dress for NYE but how on earth do I start working out what to wear?! And where do I shop? I haven’t bought anything without adding the words plus sized to it in 14y

I'm sure you know how random sizes are so you have to be prepared to try a lot of crap stuff to find a keeper.

I think you'd be best to stick to shops for the larger lady, the items are likely to be better cut and more likely to fit. However some of the fast fashion brands also do larger sizes if you'd like to get more on trend.

What do you want to wear? What lifestyle do you lead? Most people live in jeans/trousers/long skirts plus a jumper at this time of year but that might not be your style.

Find a brand you like the look of who do free returns and try lots. I guess also don't blow your budget if you're going to need smaller stuff in another few months.

I completely forgot I started this 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you Pootle

I have ALWAYS been a jeans and sack tops kind of woman and still am but would like better fitting clothes, some fun stuff and some dresses/ smart bits.

im a nanny so spend my entire time in casual clothes because I’m generally sitting on the floor or have someone else’s food on me 🙃

I’ve been in the same situation ( size 20/22 to an 8) and would recommend that you look at charity shops for clothes in your new size for two reasons. One being that you will save money as you continue to lose weight you will need new clothes and secondly so that if you make mistakes style wise then they won’t be costly ones. I agree with pp about different brands and sizing so if you need the next size up from your new size then don’t be disheartened, no matter where you are on the size chart, everyone faces the same issue.

Watch some plus size bloggers who do hauls for potential ideas of where to shop.

Firstly, well done! I've gone from an 18 to a 10 recently and can second charity shops, sales and buying things in a number of sizes (or trying it all on in the shop) until you find what fits, whatever size the label says.

But as for how to style a new body, I would love to know! I still gravitate towards black and neutrals, look terrible in mom jeans so stick with skinnies (I know!) and feel entirely uncomfortable in shops I used to just avoid like Zara.

Part of it will be your lifestyle, and also any body parts you want to hide or flaunt. Has your shape changed? I've found more dresses sneaking into my wardrobe, including one much shorter than I ever expected to wear but broadly it's just what I wore before.

I recommend charity shops too. Otherwise look online for 2nd hand clothes by brands that do larger sizes well. Well done on your weight loss.

Your feet may or may not change because of the lighter weight on them, so don't go overboard with shoe buying.

Congratulations on your amazing achievement. Personally I would probably go to a department store and do a personal shopping trip and a bra fitting. Neither I understand you have to pay for but would be worth doing to get ideas. They should be able to tell you your body shape now and then there is a huge range of advice how to dress for your bodyshape online
