Should I risk doing balayage at home?

Trying to save myself some money but really feel crap if my hair isn't highlighted. It's so expensive in the salon though.
Has anyone tried the at home balayage kits? How did it turn out?

Not worth it at all imo. I did it and couldn't really see it which in hindsight was a good thing!

No. If your hair looking good means a lot to you (as mine does) then don't diy. Balayage is a specific skill and best done by a pro.
Money is tight for me atm, ive cut out all my other treats, the weekend bottle of wine, and haven't had new clothes for ages, but i still get my hair done at the hairdressers... its literally my only treat.

I wouldn't even consider doing it at home. It will look shit.

I get the balayage done at the hairdresser about once a year. then just re dye my roots op. Lasts ages!

It didn't work out well for me. There is BC a technique to it. If nothing else, get someone else to apply the colour. It is not a one person job.

No , there is a reason it's expensive.

I did a L’oréal colourista ombré kit during lockdown & have topped it up each year. I love it and feel my hair is the best it’s ever been. It’s very easy to do with the brush.

I did mine during lockdown using the E salon lightening kit and it came out great. I was chuffed.
