Daughters hair gets tangled easily- best conditioner?

As above my 7 year old has really really long hair, it's normally silky hair that doesn't tangle BUT she has been unwell for a few days and hasn't allowed me to brush her hair. Roll on to today and I need to brush it but it's a mass of tats and tangles that I cannot get out! She hates getting it brushed so isn't really allowing me long periods of combining. Any suggestions?

Mane n Tail detangler is pretty good for detangling although it will need to be brushed through. I hope you can get it sorted my DD has nightmare hair it knots so easily but this detangler helps to keep it smooth and tangle free.

Wet it, add actual conditioner and work in sections bottom to top.

We use a spots and stripes one that is good. Tangle teaser when wet with conditioner

MojoJojo71 · 27/12/2022 12:39

I use Aussie leave in conditioner spray on DD’s hair, it works well and smells lovely

Do in the bath, under water as much as possible, with lots of conditioner. The amount of conditioner is more important than the quality.

Settle get back in the bath so she’s half reclining, propped securely in something and finger comb as much as possible.

L’Oreal Dream Lengths

My DC’s hair gets very matted and we use Johnson’s Baby No More Tangles in the green spray bottle. Very cheap and works really well

We used a very light spray in conditioner on dry hair when the DC were small, only time I used 'proper' conditioner was when DS got slime stuck in his hair and it completely messed with the condition of his hair. Horrible stuff.

I always think it is unfair to little girls to make them have long hair that gets tangled up and needs painful brushing. Cut it into a bob or at the very least put it in pigtails for bed which will stop it getting so tangled.

A wetbrush (original) is amazing for tangled hair, I use it for my daughters hair everyday. (I bought it off Amazon)

I have curly hair that knots easily and the creightons micellar conditioner has the best slip
Massage it in, add more water and squish it in and a tangle teezer brush working from the bottom up

23mum · 27/12/2022 13:29

If you can be bothered - I find rice water really helps. You can buy ready made ones on Amazon or make your own. Spray it in her hair after she's shampoo'd leave it in for 15 mins then rinse

SheWoreYellow · 27/12/2022 13:31

A Tangle Teaser brush and either the Mane or Aussie sprays.

Spray argon oil onto dry hair and comb through starting from the bottom. Also spray when it's wet before drying. It's brilliant for tangles and also coloured hair to prevent drying especially in the summer where it bleaches lighter in the sun.

Niftythrifter · 27/12/2022 13:43

Garnier no rinse conditioner. You only need a little bit.

But hair isn't all the same. Mine has needed deep conditioner since I was tiny, a spray does nothing for it. Even when short it gets knotted easily as it's very fine and curly/wavy and can't be brushed when it's dry
Just wearing a scarf that my hair touches means it tangles instantly

themessygarden · 27/12/2022 14:31

Tangle teaser brush, definitely !
