Minidress with black tights and boots?

Will a minidress with opaque tights and boots look ok for a party? I look short and dumpy in midi dresses but I hate my knees so would feel much happier in black tights.
It’s for a Christmas do in January so needs to be eveningy/sparkly. Ideally with sleeves and not bodycon.
If anyone can link to something that might work and is under £50 that would be great. 🙏

Yes I wore this exact outfit to my works Christmas do. I got a cheap black sparkly party dress from Peacocks for £22. Wouldn't normally buy from there but I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I would only wear once. The dress was actually calf-length and didn't sit right and looked frumpy, but I cut inches off the length and Wonderwebbed the hem to take it above the knees. Got some glittery black ankle boots off Ebay, black tights and a silver glittery handbag off Boohoo to brighten it all up. Silver glittery nails. Total outfit cost about £40 and I got lots of compliments!

Yes as long as the dress isn't pastel or summery looking.

It's not sparkly but has a lovely sheen to it, I just bought this and it's lovely on! It is £55 if you can stretch to that
