Badly tarnished Pandora bracelet - how to restore?

I know Pandora is not popular on here, but I'm hoping someone can help!

I've got a Pandora bracelet that I used to wear every day, but due to a change of job I stopped wearing it and it became somewhat forgotten in the depths of my jewellery box. It's now badly tarnished and very black. I'd like to start wearing it again but jewellery cleaning foam / dish soap / polishing cloth aren't really helping. The Pandora website says not to use silver dip, which was the next thing I was planning to try. So what can I do? Is my bracelet ruined forever?

Pandora will sell you their own brand of silver cleaning liquid, so I'd just buy whatever you like.

If it's actually solid silver rather than a silver plate, it should do no harm.

Use a good amount generic silver cleaning liquid with a cloth and get into the crevasses with a soft toothbrush. You will need to rinse it off after and then finish off with a silver polishing cloth. Heavy tarnish can sometimes take a few goes to get through.

You need aluminium (tin) foil and bicarb of soda.

Put foil at the bottom of a bowl, add bicarb and your jewellery and cover with boiling water.

Coke. The normal kind.

You simply need to fill a small bowl up with Coke and let your silver items soak in there for a few minutes. You don't need to leave it in there too long because Coke is acidic. When silver gets overpolished with chemicals or acid, it can remove the tarnish but also remove the shine

I’ve also used bicarb & vinegar before now. Only ever on real silver though, not plated. Bicarb and foil also works but I did make the mistake of using this on something I though was silver. It wasn’t, it was only plated and all the silver came off!

I got this from Amazon for mine in April. It worked a great and hasn’t tarnished again.

I’m sure Pandora is 925 silver rather than plated. Let us know how it goes op, I need to clean mine too

DonnaDonna0 · 22/12/2022 19:28

i use a tin foil tray, bicarbonate of soda, a small amount of fairy washing up liquid and white vinegar. It’s the best thing I’ve used.

You can take your Pandora into the shop and have it cleaned by them.

ImAvingOops · 22/12/2022 22:18

I did the bicarb and tin foil thing on a Pandora ring and it stripped all the shine off. I'd take it into the store and get them to clean it!
Honestly, I think their stuff is appalling quality for the price, but it is very pretty and so I wouldn't risk cleaning it yourself

Jewellery cloth will bring it up like new.

Boredof2020 · 22/12/2022 22:26

Pandora offer a free clean so go in the shop and ask

AnaBannanna · 22/12/2022 22:36

Hagertys cloth as pp suggested. Or Town talk polish and cloths. Or glanol metal polish and a soft microfibre cloth. Is it sterling silver or silver plated?

Magenta65 · 22/12/2022 22:41

I soaked mine in some dairy liquid and warm water, rubbed softly with a baby toothbrush and then buffed with a silver jewellery polishing cloth, came up brilliantly
