M&S jeans too big on waist - size 18 - any recommendations?

Recently bought some jeans from M&S. Size 18. They are really big on the waist but perfect everywhere else.

Can anyone suggest somewhere that do jeans with a better shape? I like bootcut. I know they are not cool but they suit my body shape.

Sainsbury's straight leg jeans. They are not too straight, if you see what I mean. Perfect for slimmer waist and bigger bum/thighs. I live in mine.

Thanks, I need a food shop so will pop by Sainsbury’s today and try some.

If they really are perfect everywhere else then you could always take them to a tailor to get the waist taken in. I've done it a couple of times and it was a quick and cheap alteration.

Are they the M&S Magic jeans? If not go back and try a pair - they are designed to solve this exact problem. They stretch round your arse but then come back in to grip your waist.

I know this sounds weird but I only have 2 pairs that for properly and they're both from Primark. Ones a bright pink cargo style and the other are mom jeans

I gave up wearing jeans for years as I find if they fit me at the front I could put a tennis ball down the back, my Primark jeans fit me perfectly

I have the opposite problem, if they fit my bum and hips, they are too tight on my waist, anyone know of a jean brand that is generous on the waist.

George at Asda's Wonderfit jeans are amazing!

Second those, I adore them
They're my replacement for the next hypercurve jeans which were perfect!

I agree with getting them altered, it’s hard to find jeans! Would a belt not work?

fucketyfuckwit · 17/12/2022 19:21

I have 2 pairs of the magic fit jeans from M&S but I find them too tight. They are also an 18.

So frustrating!

I don't really like wearing belts but I will look into getting them altered thank you ,

OP, as you point out here we are all different shapes, so suit different things, but Levi's own website has discounted (women's) jeans from time to time, so may be worth a look/try.

Dodecaheidyin · 18/12/2022 11:21

You could stitch, or have someone do it for you, wide elastic into wherever the waistband is too big for you and it will pull it in. It's a bit of a faff, having to stretch the elastic as you stitch but it works quite well.

It might not look so good if your waistband is on view though.

Could you tell me which jeans these are please? I'm an Apple so they would probably fit me well.

The M&S ones are called Eve or Eva. £22.50.

Brilliant thank you!

I do think it depends on your waist to hip ratio. I can't find anything that I can get over my hips that doesn't gape at the waist 😩

M&S magic and next lift and shape are the closest but I could still do with 2inch off the waist. I'm a size 10 so it's not so much a size issue as a body shape issue.
