Does anyone wear nightshirts?

I wear nighties- can't stand PJs.

I have 'moved up' this winter from spaghetti-strap summery cotton nighties, to short sleeved T-shirt types. I also have one long sleeved nightie from The White Company.

I am wondering about a nightshirt in jersey/ bamboo.

BUT- I'm wondering what it's like to sleep with a shirt with a collar (even though it lies flat) and the buttons and just how comfortable they are.

How messed up are some people that they can get into an angry twisted accusatory rant about what other people wear to bed. Just because you get super cold doesn't mean someone is sapping the world's energy. My dh is a furnace and our winter duvet is warm. Not everyone has the same experience

HappiCamper · 19/12/2022 22:20

I slept in an unheated bothy on an island in the Inner Hebrides last NY, in my nightshirt. I had covers over my legs. Warm as toast, other than my nose…

I have a big, thick duvet and a hot water bottle. Still couldn't have bare legs in the middle of winter.

So you're incapable of comprehending that everyone isn't you. Ok. FYI when my mum got the menopause she wore a spaghetti strap vest round the house, in winter, with the heating off. People are different.

OP I'm a fleece pyjamas person at this time of year. My mum always wore nightshirts throughout my childhood though and never complained about them being uncomfortable with the buttons and all.

I didn't get into an an "angry twisted accusatory rant", I just made a comment.

It was accusatory though. And unnecessary. An innocent question about nightshirts and you come along, trip-trapping away. It's clear you're getting a thrill out of the responses, so I for one will leave you to snigger to yourself under your bridge. Hope you've wrapped up warm.

I love mumsnet, been on here for years (name change all the time) but this what is so depressing about it. No matter how innocent or inoffensive the OP is, there's always a miserable git that has to come along and stick the knife in. 🙄

Yes, absolutely this! People are so RUDE.

I wear baggy t-shirt nighties, I don't like them too long like night shirts and I don't like long sleeves.

Oh and never have the heating on at night anyway so no wasted heat. Bare legs are toasty warm under the duvet.

LisaLovedUp · 20/12/2022 08:45

@Gwenhwyfar Thank you for your insightful contributions. 😂

I'm not aware that I asked how to keep warm in bed, or said that I was cold.

I was asking if knee-length nightshirts that have a collar, and are buttoned up the front, feel uncomfortable compared to round or V neck nightdresses.

I wasn't entering into a chat about feeling cold, how to keep warm, how much my heating is or is not on, and whether the heating police need to be informed.

What you wear in bed is up to you.

Thanks to everyone else for their helpful posts.

Sorry, but you did.

You told me it was wasteful of heating if I could go to bed with my legs uncovered.

What you are saying is that you feel cold in bed with your legs uncovered.
So you think everyone else must.

Hardly the point of my question, eh?

Hmmm...@Gwenhwyfar !

Not sure why you are being so judgemental on my heating usage.

You don't even know where I live.

I could be in a country far warmer than the UK has been recently.

Anyway, you have completely side-tracked my thread so bye-bye to you, and have a Happy Christmas.
