Knowledgeable perfume people - help needed!

I fancy some new scents.
I went a bit nose blind in Liberty last week sniffing perfumes and completely confused myself. Think I'm developing a bit of a thing for ouds.

If I list some of the perfumes and notes I like, would you suggest other perfumes in the same vein?

I like ginger, spice, incense, rose, jasmine, ylang, cedar, amber, violet, lavender, heliotrope, woody, aromatic, balsamic notes. Some fruit.

Not keen on anything too powdery, soft, iris-y or overly gourmand, although I like some vanillas. Happy to wear 'masculine' notes too - my all time favourite smell is possibly the original Gucci Envy for men. God, I miss that smell.

Please suggest some fragrances for me to start obsessing about and chasing samples round the internet!

Initio ouds are coming up a few times. I'm not familiar with the house at all although the bottles look fabulous!

@LadyOfTheCanyon Initio do quite a few interesting scents. You can sample them at Selfridges in Oxford Street.

Miller Harris Scherzo (I think the name doesn't sound oudy, but it is) has no smoky undertone, which I hate, so that's my favourite oud. Miller Harris have a lot of oud and do well priced samples with money off full price and a decent rewards programme

It is tragically discontinued now but if you can get hold of Fire by Mary Greenwell I think you would like it.

@AprilLady You are absolutely right. Une Rose Chypree is no more. 😭 Didn't realise.

@Crikeyalmighty Mitsouko is an absolute classic but an acquired taste. It took me years and several revisits before it made sense to me. Great choice.

@Deathraystare Whoops, my reply to the OP about Ravenscourt Park should have been aimed at you, sorry. Yes, Court of Ravens is made mere yards away from Ravenscourt Park. I love it. 4160 Tuesdays is right in the heart of Hammersmith.

@dreamingofsun You're in good company. Alexandra Shulman, former editor of Vogue UK allegedly wore YSL Cinema as her signature scent. The main characteristics are amber, vanilla and honey. Maybe try 4160 Tuesdays Dirty Honey or even Dior Hypnotic Poison. Also maybe, Paco Rabanne Lady Million for the honey and amber thing. Please sample them all first or I'll feel bad for causing blind buys!

I'm waiting on some samples at the moment and will report back, but a big thank you to whoever ( it was on another thread) recommended Hermessence Amber Narguile which has the perfect cinnamon note that I've been looking for for AGES but didn't know I needed.

Such a fantastic Christmas scent. Dries down to quite a deep patchouli on me which I'm happy with, but that opening blast of apple/ rum is amazing.

Have you tried Sherzo by Miller Harris?

Not yet but it's on my list!

Looking for vegan perfume like the original Stella which I believe to be discontinued for my daughter.

@Hesperatum you could try Rose Trocadero by Le Jardin Retrouve. It's a dark retro rose with blackcurrant and white musk nuances. Their perfumes are vegan. They're based in Paris but post to UK. Their discovery sets are refunded via a gift code You can also find them on Fiole in the UK.

Yes queen Charlottes! We used to live a couple of roads away from the park so was in there all the time begging to be taken to the cafe or have a go in the sandpit!

I used to life opposite the Hospital when it was in Goldhawk Riad (now part of,Hammersmith Hodspial).

@Deathraystare There's a 4160 Tuesdays perfume called Goldhawk Road! I used to have friends who lived on that road, opposite the tube.
