Super warm / thermal trousers / joggers

I really want to get my mum some joggers for Christmas as she's elderly and gets cold sitting around.

Does anyone have anything lovely they could recommend, she's very fussy!

Ideally elasticated waist.

Bonus points if they have petite options as she's 5 foot.

Thanks in advance

I can’t help but just wanted to say I think there is a gap in the market as I have been unable to find such a thing despite trying! I am not elderly but I am petite and get very cold while sitting around WFH. I looked at some next and M&S petite options but they seemed poor quality and quite thin. Hopefully someone will come along and help!

You could try Damart's thermal ranges (some styles are dated, but there are a few gems and they are known for their thermal offerings, so definitely worth a look) or the Uniqlo HEATTECH range. I am sitting typing this wearing winter cycling leggings, so sport's ranges for winter might also be an option.

Notcontent · 13/12/2022 15:06

I second the heattech range but sadly they don’t have any petite joggers.

I have these from M&S and they are lovely and cosy for being at home. They're not petite but you can roll the ankle up - my mum does that.

Thanks both - yes, I'm finding it so hard to find anything, even in normal sizes.

Damart a good call, Uniqlo sold out of the heattch ones in most sizes.

have a look at sports stores for wintersports thermal underwear.

WhereAreWeNow · 13/12/2022 17:08

I second the Uniqlo heat tech ones too. It's worth checking back each morning as stock levels go up and down. They're ridiculously warm!

Sweaty Betty do a fleecey luxe version of their 'Gary' yoga trousers - elasticated waist, various lengths, super comfy and very cosy. I love them!

dontgobaconmyheart · 13/12/2022 17:37

M&S do thermal leggings in petite lengths. I just wear them under things if I need to be kept warm and they're incredible comfortable.

Knockagain · 13/12/2022 18:06

I have the Uniqlo heattech joggers and they’re really not that warm in this cold weather. I’m sitting with them on now but also have a pair of thermal leggings underneath.

Plumpciousness · 13/12/2022 21:09

A word of experience about the Uniqlo fleece lined joggers. They have elasticated cuffs at the ankles so aren't easy to put on and take off. I bought some for my elderly mother but she couldn't manage with the cuffs so I returned them. You need to be quite supple to get them on and off over your ankles.

Ohmygoshposh · 13/12/2022 21:12

I’ve been wear cashmere joggers with merino base layer leggings underneath. I’ve been warm all week

Loveinacandle · 13/12/2022 21:14

Decathlon have loads too

DeathMetalMum · 13/12/2022 21:53

Top tip depending on size check out the kids range for petite. I'm a size 10 and age 12-13 generally seems to fit quite nicely. I got some joggers earlier in the year from tesco kids range that are cosy. I'd looked in sports direct and a few other places but they were the nicest. Primark also do loads of colours but slightly thiner.

FrownedUpon · 13/12/2022 22:13

Second the Sweaty Betty fleece Gary joggers. They do a short length and they’re so comfy & warm. They were half price in the sale.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 13/12/2022 22:18

Lands end?

TiaraBoo · 14/12/2022 08:27

I bought some fleece lined leggings from Amazon last year for about £15. So comfy.

I was coming on to say exactly that - Gap kids used to do loads of fleece lined options for kids. I think that would be around an age 12 size

Dox9 · 14/12/2022 15:53

I saw the thickest fluffy lined joggers in marks mens section today. I didn't buy them as I thought they would be too hot! They had a short version but I don't know whether it would work for a petite lady.

Stressybetty · 14/12/2022 16:06

Got my 78 year old petite MIL some recycled microfleece trousers from cotton traders. Pull on with elasticated waist. Come in 3 leg lengths. I got the 27" and they were fine, nice and warm.

Randomuser9876 · 19/12/2022 10:30

Thanks all really helpful - I've gone for the Cotton Traders microfleece so fingers crossed they fit.

So much stuff is sold out - love the look of the Sweaty Betty's but only XL available.

Lindex merino wool range. They’re so warm, yet fine and feel nice to wear. I have leggings, vests, long sleeves tops and socks. They do smart joggers too. 30% off at the moment too.
