Where can I find decent black tights??

I don’t know what on earth I do to tights but all of mine seem to ladder or get tiny holes in before I’ve even worn them. I bought some of those M&S magic shaping ones the other day and they got a tiny hole in the thigh when I tried them on! I’m so careful with them too.

I really need a pair of 60/80 denier to wear for my work Christmas do next week. Which tights do you swear by?

M&S opaque 40 denier. The best. Ugh

Excuse random “ Ugh”!!!

Cam22 · 08/12/2022 11:46

When is Mumsnet going to offer an edit function?

bettyjane · 08/12/2022 11:47

Snag tights snagtights.com

Excuse random “ Ugh”!!!

Love this. Made me chuckle 😂

PaulRobinsonsSeventhWife · 08/12/2022 11:55

Falke, expensive but last for years.

ihateexcel · 08/12/2022 11:55

Snag tights - might struggle getting them in time for next week but they are amazing and don't hole or ladder. Multiple size options and last ages and ages.

When is Mumsnet going to offer an edit function?

They will never do it.

Snagtights are ok, I wasn’t blown away though.

FairlyIncognito · 08/12/2022 11:56

Mine might be too thick but I bought m&s black fleece ones and they are SO soft and warm and nice to wear . I was quite glad I’d bought the wrong colour for DD as she hadn’t wanted them!

WehIstMir · 08/12/2022 11:59

Wolford tights. The best. Made in Europe, expensive but ultimately cheaper and more sustainable than buying lots of cheap ones that are only worn once.

minipie · 08/12/2022 12:00

Heist. They are really good and high waisted so no yanking them up all the time. But they cost a bomb Sad

Mynoodlesareoodles · 08/12/2022 12:01

I agree with the M&D urgh ones recommended by a PP and I have a few pairs of Snag footless tights I love - a wooly pair and a normal-tights-material pair.

Elmo230885 · 08/12/2022 12:03

I love my Snag tights but you won't get them in time 😔

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 08/12/2022 12:04

I agree M&S all the way

Just don't expect a free pair on their rubbish advent calendar!!!

M&S marketing bods - if your reading this a pair would go down well instead of 15% off a packet of crisps #justsaying 🤪

AmberGer · 08/12/2022 12:06

Snag. I've got loads and wear them everyday. No holes.

RuthW · 08/12/2022 12:08

Snag or popsy

Work2live · 08/12/2022 15:25

Thanks all I might try the M&S ugh ones 🤣

Might also order some Snag ones, even if they might not arrive in time!

The m and s bodysensor tights as above. I get them in 60 and they wash well, last ages.

StillSmallVoice · 08/12/2022 16:04

Every pair of Snag tights I've had have got a hole in the toe, and start falling down after a few washes. (I keep toenails short so that's not the reason.)

LadyEloise1 · 08/12/2022 16:21

I'm going against the grain here.
I found the M&S tights ripped at the toe every time.
I had to actually darn them to get some value for money.Blush
You know that sensation when you know your big toe has come through the seam at the toes. 😩

M&S used to do lovely Silky Soft tights some years back. The toe in them didn't rip.
Jasper Conran for Debenhams also did lovely silky tights but the demise of Debenhams in Dublin means they are not available anymore

WhereAreWeNow · 08/12/2022 17:18

I stock up on Wolford and Falke tights when they have them in T K Maxx. I also like DIM tights which you can get in the supermarket in France so I stock up if we go on holiday to France.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 08/12/2022 17:24

Agree with the m and s ugh body sensor ones
I will always think of them as ugh tights now @Cam22

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 08/12/2022 17:37

My snag tights have been awful for getting random holes in the feet. I’d never buy them again. Whereas I’ve had M&S tights for years that are still in great condition.
I don’t rate snag tights at all - though I do like their chub rub shorts.

GreyTS · 08/12/2022 21:42

Wolford are great, I wore 2 pairs of 20 denier all last winter and I'm always ripping tights so was super impressed. Also have tights from Calzedonia, an Italian brand and so far so good

LoobyDop · 08/12/2022 21:46

Tesco F&F are really good.
